Today I have spoken to some technical guru. Somewhere in the midlands.

He is stating it is a likely hood that a trans something could quite easily have blown in the ECU whilst probing the ECU depending on what setting the voltmeter was on.

The continuity on that wire to the ECU is fine and I have tested all the earth cables known to man. Which are all fine.

From the bench test that has already been completed on the clocks which show they work fine I'm back to the ECU problem.

So...if it is just this circuit in the ECU then I have a few options:

    1. Win the lotto and buy a new ECU and key set from Mr H.

    2. Buy a yank ECU for this model bike which wont have all the problems of the HISS on it and should be a plug and play.

    3. By-pass the ECU tach system with something like this. http://www.vtac.co.uk/0906products/tacho1.pdf

As always thanks for your time as your opinions are valued in my garage! Especially when I am throwing stuff around!

Do NOT THROW that ECU away!!!! It can be repaired.

They are valuable and almost never malfunction.

You say it can be repaired? The company I took it too stated that the risk of removing the plastic hardened jelly stuff was too great as it was likely to cause damage to the internal components????

    It is called potting compound.
I would not take it apart until you know for certain.
If you put it on another bike the same as yours and it works fine ,THEN you would have your answer.

The trick is putting it back together(correctly).

On a side note Don, You did a great job building your bike.
