*Edited to add prices; I hate that "make me an offer" garbage and I'm an idiot for initially doing it*

Heya. It's been a while since I've been on as I've been distracted with many other projects. While riding the bike the other day, gas started to pour out of the fuel cap area
and even spray out into my face. I'm assuming the gas tank is building up pressure and finally blowing it out the cap? Looks like I need a new gas tank cap.

So, I'm looking to buy a fuel tank cap for an '83 interceptor with a good seal, in reasonable condition with a key. Also need an unbent or damaged in any way foot brake lever.

I have lot's of items for sale/trade if interested.
    -front upper fairing $50
    -headlight fairing stay $20
    -cdi boxes (work great) SOLD
-carbs in pieces in a box $25 (I can investigate completeness for interested parties)
    -center stand w/hardware $10
    -good used chain SOLD
-foot brake lever for a 700 sabre $5
-stock airbox w/cover and filter $25
-stock bars with drilled ends (the drilled ends won't matter when grips are installed. $25
    -rear tank mount rubber $2
    -petcock surround $5
-helmet lock (will include key but the locking mechanism is missing) $5
    -carb cover thing $5
    -stock mirrors $10 SOLD
-rear grab rail (?) bars with reflectors $15
-tail light (really only useful for the lens as I cut up the mounting tabs) $5
    -tail light gasket $2 SOLD
-front and rear foot pegs (the rear set is mounted to chopped up brackets) SOLD
    -chain cover $10
-gauge cluster wiring (uncut without issue. the cluster itself is not useful, just the wiring is included and will be pulled from the cluster) $10
    -stock horn $5
-They may be other parts pictured I spaced on naming

    Other parts
-UFO dual light headlight fairing for that streetfighter look (I have the same one installed on my xs400) SOLD
-3 sets of aftermarket turn signals all in great condition or new amber $7, large clear $10, smaller clear in package $10
-couple sets of napolean type bar end mirrors $20 for all 4
    -red/black tank pad $3

All prices do not include shipping (which will be actual) and some parts may not be cheap to ship. I'm happy to provide further details and pictures on any parts to interested parties. Feel free to email, pm, whatever and we can work something out. All parts are located in Albuquerque, NM.

Found another set of round long stem mirrors that were on the xs400. I'm almost positive they will thread into the interceptor as well but will check on my bike later today. They have 3 white LEDs in each mirror for turn signals or running lights. One mirror was stupidly dropped while I was washing them earlier and I scraped it a little near the middle LED causing two of the LEDs to also have scrapes. They still work fine. I Can include red LEDs if you would like to wire them up that way. Each lens is perfect as I had them covered with tape while not in use and was only removed to take pictures. There is stuffing behind each lens to help cut down on lens vibration. Lens pops out easily if you wanted to mess with the LEDs or remove the stuffing. $15

and a picture of the stock mirrors to show some scrapes and pitting on the back. They would need to be painted to be perfect but for the price they are a good deal.

Feel free to inquire about any parts and I will post detailed photos and provide you with any info that I can. Paypal is the easiest way for me to accept payments but we can work out something else if needed.

Thanks. It's nothing special and is always in a project state but you get the idea. I have no idea if VFRHusband has seen it or not but he's not missing out on much; my skills are very limited. Thanks again though. :0)

I'm not a huge fan of the naked bikes myself but you've done some cool things with that. Nice piece of art there. Good luck selling your parts and finding a cap.

We don't have to agree as long as we respect one another, which shouldn't be a problem ;0). I've always been a big rat bike/grage project bike fan and movies like The Road Warrior have always had a special place in my heart. Of course there is plenty I would do with the bike had I the money, skills or time but It's find as is (more or less).

On a side note, I actually really like the stock look of the interceptor in the blue, white and red like your bike.

Hey, thanks, I apprecaite it. It's always embarassing to have people look at my projects because they're far from perfect and I set them up for me within the parameters of a limited budget and skill but they're mine and I dig 'em. It is nice when others are on the same wavelength. The xs400 was my first project and a bit rougher around the edges, especially after 3 crashes (this is it's current condition after the 3 crashes so it has some issues to be worked out). I've been meaning to redo that awful shift linkage for a while now on the xs400; I might give that a shot today while it's out of the garage.

I dig 'em too, nice work.

I'll take the napoleon bar end mirrors, the small clear signals in package and the bars with the drilled ends(I'd like to see the ends if you can get a pic). Private message on the way.

Here are some pics of the parts you're interested in. I pulled a turn signal from the package so you could check it out. It has an amber bulb and a nice clear lens. The bars were drilled once upon a time and I widened the hole with the biggest bit I had in order to try and fit barend mirrors on them. Whoever drilled them first did not drill them perfectly centered but I did get away with putting mirrors in there. The bars include the allen clamp bolts and will need to be cleaned and painted to look nice. Of the two sets of mirrors, one is genuine napolean and the other emgo. The emgo mirrors were like $15 each and the napolean were $45 so it's a good deal. The emgo mirrors were installed on the xs400 and involved in an accident where I was hit by a car. They survived with road rash as pictured and one mirror had the reflective portion beat up. I held onto them as the housings are still good. The rubber bushings were cut to fit the slim size of the bars on the xs400 and could be used as is depending on the bar diameter or pick up new rubber at any hardware store (I know ace has some that would work). The napolean mirrors are in great condition safe for pitting and some dullness of the black paint. Useable as is but I would either buff of repaint them. I think there are the ones to use as they have a better look in my opinion. I used the napolean mirrors on the interceptor for about 6 months before I switched to the round style. They were used on clipons and not the stock bars.

Emgo on the left and Napolean on the right. You can see ther road rash in these pics to the emgo mirrors.

oh, and if you look in my photo gallery you will see a couple pics with the napolean mirrors installed to give you idea of what they look like on the bike.

Hey bro I love the bike nice job. Did you hve make your own bracket for the speedo or did you modify the stock one to mount it to the forks also I like the exhaust. Are they straight pipes or do they have a baffle and do they sound good. I was thinking about doing that kin of exhaust to mine. And one last question did they improve on the performance

Thanks Danny, I appreciate it. You've done some pretty cool fabrication to get those plastics to fit; it's like a totally different bike. I'm at work and don't have the bike in front of me and it has been a while since I attached the cluster but I'll give you the run down as best I can remember...I cut just the cluster out of the stock plastic front cowl so there was nothing sticking out from the cluster save for the two bottom mounts below the temp and fuel level gauages. I then made a small bracket about maybe 1 1/2" and attached one end to the cluster and the other to I think a spacer that was on the front forks for the stock bars (I'll have to check to be sure). The spacer was sandwiched between the clipons and the lower tripple tree mount. I had to cut the ignition switch surround to allow the cluster to sit as close as possible to the forks. The cluster brackets were bent up to allow the cluster to sorta tuck behind the headlight fairing and allow more room for the oil cooler.

The exhaust, as is, was never meant to be permanent. I had plans to weld up sections in roughly the same shape but with slightly more angles (my brother had a similar exhaust to what I had in mind on his zx10r). Right now it is flex pipe mated to the original collector exit. I then made an adapter to allow the chrome slant tip to slide into the flex pipe and made a couple mounts to keep it all together before wrapping it with exhaust wrap. I have a baffle inside which has eliminated all of the backfire but I need to get one about 1/2" larger as it does not completely fill the exhaust like I want it to. Initially I ran slant tips straight off the collector and I've been thinking of going back to that set up if I can find baffles to fit but I have too many projects to mess with the bike and it works fine as is.

Now, for performance I need a rejet badly. I'm running sabre carbs with slightly larger jets and shimmed needles but I still need bigger jets as I have flat spots in higher rpms. Besides the exhaust I have single pod filters on each carb. I've been meaning to play around with the jetting but rejettting can get expensive quick and it runs fine as is but a little lean.

I never really knew what I was doing, I just sort of experimented with the bike to see what would work and this is what I ended up with. It's not completely done or anything as I still need to fabricate a better undertail for the Pickler seat and create new side covers (to fit better with the undertail actually).

I always like the exhaust sound. It doesn't sound like a sport bike really but not a harley either. I'll post a video here before long so you can check it out.

Cool sweet man thanks for the post it helps a lot. Dude your bike looks sick. That is pretty much the same way I was going to do my bike but the fairing I got were freebies so I could not pass up the oppertunity. I'll tell you one thing it is hard to put newer fairing on an old bike but the out come will be great I've never done this before but hopefully it will come out lookin good I'll post more pics later when I get more.

Keep in mind this is all cheap garage engineering. When you start to see all the short cuts and imperfections the bike loses whatever small amount of magic it possessed, but here you go!

    The front headlight fairing.

Here is a blurry closeup of the loom I have covering the gauge mount. I just noticed the broken piece from the gauges.

Also just noticed that the mount hole is pulling through and must have broke on the bottom, I had no idea. I dropped a box on my bike the other day while trying to get someting out of the garage so I'm sure that is when the guage piece broken and the mount started to pull out. I've had it this way for almost 3 years without issue. The cluster is mounted to the fork stablizing piping or whatever you call it. This is where the original bars mounted to as well if I'm not mistaken.

side vents are not perfect from being gorilla wrenched.
vents are not perfect but should not be obvious once mounted.
front fairing tabs are broken but could be easily repair. I believe the fairing is held together by the fairing stay anyway so you shouldn't notice.
seat mount tab that has been cut open because of a stripped mounting bolt that could not be removed. It will mount just fine and be hidden by the side covers.

    pegs and tail light gasket.
