This Ebay Auction ends in less than 4 hrs:

    Honda VF500 Exhaust on eBay.ca (item 220618627270 end time 10-Jun-10 21:16:53 EDT)

    I have F1R slip-ons on my bike:

Both mine and the auction listed below are Slip-ons which do just that....just slip on. Very easy to install.

You can go with full exhaust setups such as:
    Hindle 4-1 -
    Kerker 4-2
    Vance & Hines 4-2
    Yoshimura 4-1 and 4-2

Some of these require modification to stock chin cowling and other things. Most require a re-jetting of the carbs. Slip-on cans won't.

On mine I made my own 4 to 1 exhaust and it works great I just need a jet kit and the bike should run perfect then I just have to finish the body and I'll be golden

Define "my own custom 4-1 exhaust" ??

A custom one? How was it designed?

+1 on this topic. I'd like to know a bit more about the 4-1 you crafted. Thx!

I have a buddy that owns a muffler shop. We cut off the old collector and at the time he only had a 4-1 collector. So what we did was bent some tubing to connect the headers to the collector an then welded it up. I am thought going to change the design and put a 2-1 collector for each side of the motor and then connect them to another 2-1 collector and run it out the same side I have it on now the new design will be similar to the hindle exhaust I think

Would you mind posting a few photos of the design? 4-1 systems have been a hot topic here as they are no longer being produced, for the VF500F.

I was thinking of doing the same when I first got my bike but not knowing exactly what length each header pipe needs to be I simply decided against it.

As easy and inexpensive as a custom system may be there is a bit of science to it. To quote/butcher a bit of what Jamie D has mentioned in another thread:
Maybe the easiest issue would be to run the Primaries out the back into 4 separate and individual mufflers?

that is funny but I doubt you would have the right back pressure for the engine but still funny. The design that I have right now though works great and it did increase my throttle response and I could tell I gained more power but my next design I am going with will have equal length tubing to each collector whille increasing the output on the first two colectors and then on the final collector making the output the same size as a newer muffler input because a friend of mine is giving me a d&d pipe off of his cbr so I am going to hav to fit the muffler to the new header (I think that all made sense if well if you guys don't get it, I do, lol, guess that's all that matters). So hopefully it works out the way I plan and if it turns out working like the hindle maybe I'll start making them for you guys, I could use the extra cash. I'll keep you all posted

I don't see what is so funny about that. It can be done....I don't see why not.
Not saying it won't need tuning.

I'm not trying to say your exhaust is bad....just replacing the stock collector box with a 4-1 collector may not be a good thing.
Who knows? Maybe the increase in power/throttle response could have been anything from clogged stock mufflers, rotten/plugged collector box or any changes you did to the carbs (I assume you did since it's usually a must when changing the exhaust)

Maybe it DID give you some extra Top End Power, but you lost some Mid and down low. (or vise vera)
Using the "Butt-dyno" as a way of measuring performance gains is never really a good idea.

^^^ The point is: we are interested in your exhaust and how it looks/is designed.

I am interested to see exactly how the pipes will be routed and how it would look in this design.
Even though you think that it isn't important that we understand I think some of us would appreciate you taking the time to explain it to us...but that is entirely up to you, of course. :/

I'd like to know a lot about the exhaust first, not to mention Dyno results from a stock VF500 and a VF500 with your exhaust on it before I gave you any of my money....with all due respect.

Hey everyone has there own oppinion and I am open everyones ideas good/bad, I appreciate your thoughts though for you mostlikely know a lot more about this bike than I do. Hey this exhaust is still an idea and hopfully it works close to if not as good as the hindle. My plans are to take the bike back to stock dyno it then put the new exhaust on and the jet kit put in and then dyno it again and see if there is a significant increase in power/torque but I won't know until I do it so I'll let you know but if it does work out to be like the hindle I think there might be a few people intersted in it
