    I need a number 16 on that schematic.

    ...anyone know about the thermostats on the VF500's? Honda Part only? Is it the same thermostat in any other applications?

    I just bought two of those from my Honda dealership, so they are still available. He did have to order them, but they only took one day to arrive.

    carbs done

    complete F2 front end installed (have to "install" new steering stops)

    rear spacers should be done soon along with the cush drive


    parts needed: 5th gen clutch resivor (black)

    Thanks for the update.

    Are you installing the F2 triple tree and the F2 forks as well? I've read that the forks are too short in length and will cause clearance issues btwn the fender and radiator. If I could ask, have you double checked this clearance at full compression?

    Thank you for posting the photos.

    If I could ask, have you removed the fork caps and checked the clearance - stop to stop - at full compression?

    From what I've read the clearance is too tight, for comfort, with F2 forks.

    I plan to pull the fork caps tonight... but even then I don't foresee an issue the fully collapsed spring still takes up space

    also I am adding new stops


    relocating the fuse box to under the left side panel .. using a newer style fuse block

    as you can see with the fork caps off & the forks fully collapsed there is still plenty of clearance . with the fork caps on the front would NEVER compress this low...



    Also, I plan to use a 4th gen vfr fender trimmed & thined out a bit. so the fender will be "above" the head

    anybody have an extra 4th gen fender lying about?

    close? that's 1 inch at the closest point with the springs basically removed from the forks.. the front would never travel that far because with the springs fully compressed you still have the spring in the forks...

    don't mind the speedo cable/brake lines after they are secured as normal they won't be as close
    like I said before: trim the back of the fender = you still have 1" between the head & the tire


    when I get this thing done I'll ratchet strap the front down with the springs intact ....

    Thank you for the post.

    I appreciate that you are taking these comments, regarding the clearance, in their intended context. I think that many owners would consider an F2 swap - but the word on the street has been that the clearance is simply too tight.

    Perhaps with a custom fender and a bit of reworking on the radiator (if need be) this upgrade is indeed possible.

    I am looking forward to your next post – please keep us updated on the progress!
