I've had my '02 VFR800 for a few years now and just signed up here. I've had a bunch of Hondas (CM400T, CB900F x4, CB1100F, CB750F, CB350 Four, CB550K Four with sidecaran, CB900C, VF500F inline 4 guy for a while, DOHC and also SOHC, and every one of them has been a Honda. The VFR800 has been flawless so far and now I'm making changes for a 1,500 mile trip so I need to do a little research. I put GIVI saddlebags and a trunk on for storage and backrest. I would like to know if anyone has a Corbin backrest and the GIVI trunk rack installed at the same time. I searched the archives but didn't seem to find that combination. I checked with GIVI and they said it would not work, but then I thought maybe they were just covering their butts. Anyone have experience trying this? Happy riding Dan the Weekend_Junkie

I'm up in Hoboken, although it's not my favorite place to ride. I end up in traffic-combat on all the highways around here too often.
There's good eating in Hoboken! If you'd like to do a group ride sometime, keep your eyes open on the forum for rides in the Poconos or subjects pertaining to New Jersey. We have a good little group of the usual suspects, and always room for more! Your upcoming trip of 1500 miles sounds nice. Where you heading?
Rides are always nice to tag along with. I went on a ride with guys from CB1100F.net up in Wilkes Barre that was nice. I and the wifey will be heading up to Port Loring, ON for a family vacation. The ride will actually be 2 different 700 miles legs, so it may be more of a commute than a scenic tour. We have friends in Las Vegas and are talking about riding west, so this will be a good warm up for bigger adventure.

Hey Jersey guys. I'm a newer VFR rider. Site is useful and I'm always looking to learn / ride with some new people. 08827 zip is my area (clinton NJ) let me know if there are any events etc.... ride safe. Curious if anyone else likes to ride with their Bright lights on durning the day / 24-7. I've been practicing this sporadically and I seem to like the results. Any down sides? I don't feel that it blinds oncoming cars...I've also experimented with leaving brights on longer than in the car and go to low beams within say ...100 yards. (guess)
No issues running your high beams during the day. Just remember when dusk comes they do start to blind. BZ
The alternator in a bike is not going to be as strong as you might think. I would be concerned that running the highbeam for hours could draw more power than your alternator can produce, forcing the bike to draw the extra power from the battery while you ride. If you really want visibility in day & night, look into an ICON mil spec vest.
I believe a study has been done at Northwest University in Michigan where the results indicate that by running bright lights during the daylight hours actually makes you look farther away. North west University is where the premier traffic studies are done and where our present day Traffic Collision Reconstructionists Programs began. SO they do have some credibility in their studies. And if you sit back and think about this, you may agree with their position. However, after having said all this, I too ride with my high beams on during the daylight hours for the same reason you do. I think though, that you may discover that coming withing 150 meters or yards of on coming or following a vehicle, you are required to dim your lights, day or night. I suspect that the cast majority of police would over look the daytime brights, realizing why you are doing this. And in reality, bright lights are only blinding during dark hours as during the daytime, your eyes have already accustomed themselves to the bright sunlight anyways. I have heard of the issue about the brights drawing too much power from your system. I had never experienced this myself. And for several months now, I have been running HID brights, which I understand draw even less. And for a measuring stick, my 06 has 103,000 km (roughly 63,000 miles) on it and I am still running the original battery. But after all that +1 on the vest. Any and all Hivis is a plus
