    Actually...

there are two bolts that attach that "box" to the frame. Removing the battery box will reveal them.

Just loosening them might give you enough clearance to get the wrench in place with more leverage.

    You're absolutely right Moby.

...and thanks for the Advice. I still need to recruit some people to help me out with the adjustments.

This all would have been a bit easier if I still had the centerstand. :-(

May be a good time to invest in a Pit Bull:

    Ah.....IC thinks of everything.

But I do have a rear stand.

The problem with it is that it still compresses the rear shock as the swingarm is still bearing the weight of the rear of the bike.

The stock Centerstand would take the weight completely off the swingarm, does it not?

I use some ratcheting style tie downs attached to the ceiling rafters and the grab bar to support the rear when doing shock work...a rope would work as well.

*sigh* I have to do all my work in my driveway. No garage :-(

Great idea though for when I get a garage.

You are halfway there - use your rear wheel stand to lift the bike. Measure from the underside of the frame to the floor & fabricate a pedestal that is capable of supporting the weight of the bike (to be placed under both sides of the frame) - and that is ever so slightly less than the aforementioned measurement. Remove the rear wheel stand and you should be good to go - no weight on the mono-shock and a secure platform to work on.

Gotcha...thought the pic was taken in a garage.

The other option I have used is a empty milk crate. the engine/exhaust fit nicely inside the crate and the frame rests on the edges...

you guys DO have milk crates up there right?

Maybe so. I bumped into the guy I sold my 500 to this weekend. Thank the VF Gods it's still running well for him but the forkseal I didn't replace is now leaking bad. Offered to fix it for him if he bought the parts.

tink, wanna replace my leaky fork seals while you're at it? I did it once awhile back with an aftermarket seal, and I didn't enjoy the job all that much.

Absolutely. I'd do it for free and in your case, even buy your fork seals. Just send me a paid for, round trip plane ticket.

You guys have trees up there? How about a tree branch and a couple of ratcheting tie-downs to lift the rear end?

    Just an update:

Rolled over 60,000kms a while ago. (38,000miles) Bike had about 60,500kms on Friday.

I left the bike with a local VF/VFR guru to check the valves and overhaul the carbs. If everything is ok in there, when I get it back I'll arrange to meet up with Moose and check our swingarms.

I'll also get some people to help with the Shock adjusting and setting the sag. It is a HUGE pain in the ass to adjust it. I moved the collar a few clicks and the rear seems more firm and a little less comfortable over bumps.
If it needs to be firmed up too much more to get the proper sag out of it, I don't see this bike staying comfortable on the street at all.

Jamie, can you please let me know what exactly the F2 rear wheel needs to have in it from Dust seal to dust seal. (i.e. something similar to what IC has for his Hurricane swap kit)

I don't need to know where the Cush drives or the brake bracket goes....just the inner parts of the F2 wheel.
I'd like to make sure I have all the right parts in there so I can start fresh.
