I hope that cop ends up in the general population of some maximum security prison. If there is any justice that will happen, that and getting married to his 400 lb cell mate!

Watching the video, not only was there absolutely no threat to human life but how the hell did he shoot the guy and then come around the car drawing his weapon?

Possible scenario: I believe getting out of the car he drew his gun, and seeing his poor technique of holding it, fired accidentally. In an immediate OH SHIT moment he holstered it then redrew out of confusion and fear of what he had done.

Maybe one of our resident officers will chime in and confirm my comments on how he held and pointed his weapon.

Will result in a 5 min deliberation I believe.

Not much to see in the video, but it's all we have.

I can tell you that even that short of a pursuit can amp you up. As soon as your brain knows the chase is on, you get a massive dump of adrenaline.

I'm just going to guess here that being a part time dispatcher, part time officer, he's not used to these kinds of call and the effects yet. I don't know if they train them to hold their guns like that, but that screams rookie to me.

The biker was not a threat, he shouldn't have been shot. Based on the officers commands and demeanor, I think it was just an accident. He'll lose his job and likely his freedom for some time. But I think the entire thing was unintended and ruined the lives of many.

Now I'm not defending the officer here at all for shooting the guy, but I do need to point out that it all started by them running from the cops. If they wouldn't have done that none of this would have happened at all, so you can't put ALL of the blame on the cop.

It would appear to be a terrible accident and all have lost. I feel badly for both families .

If it was an accidental shooting then he needs to fess up and not say it was justified in court. That makes it worse. They need to throw the book at him the dude can never walk again. what happens if he pulls another person over and it happens again???

Not gonna happen. Both these poor souls will not be free for sometime. At the very least Sheriff Trigger will not be pulling anyone over ever again.

yet another reason that once you commit to going, dont pull over...........i have yet to have a decent interaction with a cop while on a bike, even when doing nothing wrong and being polite.

it didnt seem like the guy who got shot was running at all. The cop's lights didnt come on until after they left the stop sign, and while they took some time to stop, it wasn't a ridiculously long time. I've seen worse from cagers, about 2 milest, but they weren't running, just oblivious to the world.

edit: Just watched the video again, it took the bikes 15-20 seconds to stop from the time the red and blue came on, this seems reasonable given the noise of the pipe and the fact that they were accelerating quickly. Once stopped, the biker made no sudden moves and gave no indication of looking to run.

Yes, they should have not taken off like that, but that's no reason to shoot someone in the back.

it is hard to make out what the officer says but sounds like get down. the guy moves and you here the pop of the gun. the cop is saying in court he thought the guy was reaching for a gun cause he did not have his hands up. The biker says he was putting it to neutral and then felt the bullet.

The other officer when talking to the review board/investigators was worried he was in the line of fire from the moron cop that shot and if you look he was not to far off. But if he missed I think the other biker was more likely to get hit. Officer white also told the fellow officer right after it happened that night he hopes he did not make a mistake and hopes he does not go to jail for this. The fellow biker had to call 911 for the meat wagon since officer white didn't and he had to pull his shirt off to stop the bleeding while you see officer white just all confused walking around.
Oh and the bikers were "messing with him" so that is why he wanted to pull them over and followed them for several minutes, and he ran several stop signs with no flashy lights on to make sure he did not loose them in the 25 mph zone and they were doing the speed limit. here is a few minutes of vid before the stop. I do not see them messing with him. Just him trying to push them into doing something so he can force a stop.

Man I got nothin... I have had my pistol out as many as 4 times on subjects in one day, but it was called for and I was working violent crimes taskforce and hunting down a shooter. And I NEVER fired on anyone (in this country). I see nothing that even remotely justifies deadly force. Maybe a bicth slap on the back of the lid and call him a bone head and tag a ticket from hell on 'em.There are SOME cases where we would even impound the bike for 100mph+ speeds, but not in this case. In my state there is no law that makes a "launch" a traffic violation. Hell, I do it. Got pulled over for it too. I had the fun oppertunity to tell the guy who pulled me over that I can jump to 55mph from a dead stop in 3 seconds and HE was wrong for making a traffic stop with out probible case and I will tell his cheif that he is a retard the next time I see him. "Officer" White was wrong as 2 boys f*cking in the back of a pick up truck. He deseved to be held accountible and fragged accordingly.

I don't know KC, This cop in question DID what he DID. I was a Spec Ops guy before I took the cop job. Still miss it and HATE my job more days then I love it. We got scum bags were I work that don't deserve to were a uniform. Just like I'm sure there are coworkers that you all work with that you pray are hit by a bus on their lunch break. When a Cop, a soldier, airman, jar head (heheh) or anyone in service does somthing STUPID! like this we are held accountible by what ever rules we are held to. This case is no differnt. We can look out for our own, but not make excuses. We are entrusted to hold ourselves to a HIGHER standard. It's been our job to sacrifice and take risks for the people we protect. Not shoot them in the back. It's supposed to be SERVICE, not a power trip. Those who don't get that, need to go. Too bad nobody tagged this guy as a bad apple before this happened.
This is National Police Memorial Week. I lost guys I seved with, military and law enforcement. (see my avatar) Guys who shame the memories of those who serve and fell deserve a special place in Hell.
