Dropped wheels off for tire swap and decided to take a quick look around the showroom. There it was sitting in the middle of the floor.

Is the last one ever going to be sold?

I know of 3 still without oil in them in the crate sitting around Western NY. My job takes me to Honda dealers. They are not fond of this bike if its been on the floorplan for 4 years, paying interest and fees on it... and now sold under cost at a loss.

I can see why the slow sales. It not the fastest, most comfortable or striking. You have to like VFRs and then be nostalgic and pay to go retro.

American Honda has made a permanent price reduction on all remaining-stock 2007 Interceptors. Official new base-model MSRP is $7939. I don't know how this affects dealers that have had the bikes since 2007, but I think it's great for dealers that are just getting them now. They can sell an $11-12k bike for under $8k and still make money. It makes them look like a hero. My local dealer just got one in and they have it marked with the original 2007 MSRP and a sale price of $8500, which makes it look like a fantastic deal. They can probably drop another $1k off the price and still make a few bucks.

If they had just made them all red they would have been sold-out in 6 months.

You're right on the money. Isn't that who the bike was intended for?

Simple - every morning they walk into their store, see the Viffer sitting proudly in front of all the other merchandise, and then cry a little. And then after seeing the DoNotOrder-1 next to it, cry a little more. And then next to that they see "the day late dollar short of the chopper phenomenon" Furby and cry some more. (Seriously though, I guess the DN-01's have actually been selling).

I'm sure no dealer would be happy about having a bike in stock for 3 years, but that's not what I meant. I wonder if Honda America is giving refunds to dealers with unsold 07s, or if they still owe $12k on a bike with a $8k MSRP.

Anyone aware if any of these are ABS models. I have a candy red that I picked up in December and would like a RWB one as well.

Pretty sure these are all non-ABS. You can find several on the net/EBay - once an auction ends you'll likely see the same bike (from the same seller) in a couple days.

As the dealer told me "You can't sell this bike to just anybody...someone who buys a VFR is looking for one." Which is what my position was :D

So, if the "new" MSRP is $7939, I can't help but wonder what the new "Invoice" price is to the dealer, and what incentives are out there. I've been looking for an RWB w/ABS within reasonable distance of NE FL since Christmas time. By the time I saw the ad at Southern Honda in TN, they only had a non-ABS left. I've been pretty consistently keeping a watch on the net for the last 6 months, and even had a dealer in St. Augustine looking for one. I've seen a few on Ebay and CycleTrader, but they always seem to be out in California or somewhere that a married guy with 4 kids just can't take off to on a whim. I've all but given up on finding it at this point. If I can't find the RWB with ABS, I'm seriously just thinking about getting a good deal on one...any one...preferably with ABS. I found one recently that is an '04 with the Asphalt Black, ABS, Two Brothers pipes, and only 5k miles. Its very tempting. The owner is asking $5800 though. The guy at Southern Honda offered me an '08 ABS back at Christmas time for 6685 + 99 dealer fee. So, I'm thinking that $5800 for an '04 is pretty high, even with ABS and pipes. Anybody have any thoughts on that price ? I was thinking about offering 4300-4500. If anybody has any ideas on how I can get my hands on a RWB /ABS without too much headache, or if you have a lead on a good deal elsewhere, please let me know. I'd like to stay within 4 hours of drive time preferably. Thanks for ideas/suggestions.

Your dealer couldn't locate one? If not, then I'd try another dealer. It sounds like you're not willing to have the bike shipped. You'd have many more options if you considered it. It would cost you upwards of $600, but you'd have the bike that you want.

Hey, thanks for the reply SJ239. I've actually spoken with a couple dealerships. Since Christmas, Southern Honda opened a location in Orlando, FL...much closer to home. So, one day I called them. The guy I talked to was eager to make a few calls to see if he could find one for me. Same with the St. Augustine guy. I actually had a bad experience with one of the salesman in St Augustine, and ended up working directly with the owner for several weeks while he tried to track one down. He did a good job of keeping up with me whenever he tried a new avenue, but finally told me he just couldn't seem to find one.

Money does not grow on trees for any of us, I'm sure, and I'm no exception. However, if it was just $600 to get one delivered, I'd JUMP at the chance. My issue is that I'm a natural born bargain hunter. If I decide I want something, I also want the best deal. The ones I've seen online RWB/ABS have all been much higher dollar in asking price than what Southern in TN was asking last Christmas. I honestly just could not pay $8k for one when I saw a physical ad for the RWB/ABS for $6684 plus $99 dealer fee. It might actually kill me. ;-) I would (In a heartbeat) pay $6684 plus $99 PLUS $600 to ship it. But, most of the places that have advertised still having one all seem to state in their ads that "Honda" requires the buyer to be present at the actual dealership to pick the bike up. They go so far as to say that the customer can ship it after that or whatever, but that the customer must be there.

If I find one where that is not the case though, I'm gonna pull the trigger so fast, it'd make the REAL Jesse James' head spin !

If anybody knows whether this is fact or fiction, I'd be very interested in knowing. Also, still very curious if there is an adjusted "invoice" price that anybody knows of.

    Thanks again

Ok, well, the used asphalt black never got below $5300...more than I wanted to spend on it. I love the color, and it did have two bros pipes on it already (love those too). It did not have bags, and I'm partial to the clear lenses, so I'd have to do mods. Plus, the owner didn't know anything about the wiring harness recall. It did have ABS tho.

At any rate, the thread got me thinking about calling my local dealer again. So, I went ahead and did so. I told them I'd be willing to pay the freight to get the RWB with ABS if there was still one around and if they could give it to me for the same price that Southern Honda was dealing them for at Christmas time. He told me he could only come within $150, because they do free pick up and delivery for service calls in the metro area, and free tires for life. That sounds like a pretty good deal to me, so I told him to go ahead and try to find it. I got a confirmation email today in fact that they did find a dealership willing to give it to them, and the owner is supposed to call me tomorrow. I'm pretty excited. He said he would do parts for cost, so I'm thinking about getting the bags so that I won't always be wishing I had. If I get them at cost, then I could sell them easy if I decided I just didn't want them.

So, looks like I'll be paying $6683 for the RWB w/ABS, plus their $239 dealer fee, plus $600 freight. Add tax, and I'll be OTD for $8k. If I decide on bags, that'll probably bring it up to around $8700 I'm guessing.

I'll post pics and confirmation when everything is signed sealed and delivered.

If anybody has any suggestions ...nows the time. ;-)

Longdrive352 - Free tires for life? That's worth at least $800.00 per year to me. Good deal! Any time or mileage restrictions? And free pick up and delivery? Can't get anything like that around here that I'm aware of.

    Hey Knife,

Yep, I'm sure they've got fine print on that one, but as long as I get a new pair every couple of years, I should be set. Now if I can talk them into locking the price of that 16k. Ha Ha. I wonder if they only give you selection of a particular brand...like OEM, or if I can get them to honor replacements even if I do a zero mile upgrade to some Michelin Power 2CTs.

Ya know, its funny to me that we've never seen that pick up and delivery offered anywhere before. I figure that would really add repeat business for a dealer.

The deal is tight. If feels good...especially with ABS. My only hesitation is that my job announces layoffs the 15th of the month prior to each quarter. This year has been a rough one so far, and is rumored to be about to get worse. My biggest hope is that by holding out for an RWB with ABS and perhaps getting the bags, I can position it so that I can unload it for about what I paid if it should become necessary.

You may get a kick out of knowing that the short list was VFR, Raider, Fat Bob. Weird, huh ? In a perfect world, I wouldn't have to choose. ha ha ha...

Does anybody know what dealer cost is on hardbags ? I know I've seen the websites where they are just under $800, but the owner offered me "cost" on add-ons. I want to make sure I have all the information I can have before I decide.

    Thanks,

I was at the dealer a few weeks ago looking at the 07, 08, & 09 VFR's he had. He was kinda pushing me to buy one. Anyway. The hardbags go for around $1K so he tells me.
