    Hey folks,

So here's my problem. I'm always reading about the decent cornering abilities of the original VF500 Interceptors. From my experience with my own bike (1986), I really can't relate. While I realize it's 24 years old, I can't help but think I could at least improve its handling somewhat.

1st question: My rear shock is pretty much toast. What are my aftermarket options? Since OEM is no longer an option, what will fit and what's worth the money?

2nd question: What's up with the forks? I've read about the TRAC technology supposedly preventing diving issues. Mine must be non-operational since even after two new springs the front suspension is performing poorly as ever. Can someone please shed some light on this, AND provide some general advice on improving front suspension performance overall?

What shape are your tires in?

Regarding the rear shock, you can purchase an F2 or F4i shock and send it to Jamie Daugherty. He can modify it so it'll fit your bike.

Talk to him to get more details. Don't forget to set the sag after you install it.

Regarding the front forks.....when was the last time they were apart? Clean, rebuilt with new seals and oil?

    +1 on the DMr recommendation.

I have an F4i shock conversion for my '84 VF500F and am very happy with it. Jamie Daugherty (DMr) is a stand-up guy who does excellent work.

    Nooooo....it doesn't.

He's gonna look at Jamie for a rear shock solution.

What's he gonna do about the front forks?
