If you see something in the Gatineau area that you would like checked out, just let me know! Montreal is a bit too far but I do have Ducati contacts there that could act as eyes.

    Thanks Jethro.

A few VFR's o nthat site look interesting. But I can't figure out how to contact the sellers???

I was planning that too but I don't know the rules of buying a bike in the states and driving it back.

Holly crap, I just wrote a huge response and it went poof!Gone!

I don't have the energy to do that again.

Look at this site to familiarize yourself with the export/ import process. Registrar of Imported Vehicles - Welcome to the Registrar of Imported Vehicles

I've done a bunch in the last few years but it can be costly so make sure you work the numbers well before you commit! If you want to chat about the process, shoot me a PM and we can exchange numbers.

    I saw these too.

Both are at a local shop I've been too. The bikes have been sitting there for over 2 years which aint sooo bad.

Still deciding whether I should stop spending money on my VF500

    I rode it!

The bike is really comfortable and it now has 10,000 miles on it but I had a really nice ride inspite of the weather.

I even spent some time in Chicago along the way to say hi to some old friends.

Didn't think I would like the sixth gen this much but now I'm sold!

    I'm quite jealous.

What you got there (color and all) is pretty much what I'd like to ride for the rest of my life.

Was it hard getting it over the boarder? What plate did you use during the trip?

    Thanks man!

I'm pretty happy with the bike. It doesn't really need anything and the price was excellent.

First of all, I was in Dallas for work so I decided to check the local craigslist to see what was for sale in the area. I found this bike five minutes from my hotel so I jumped on it and started the research. I cut a deal with the seller on the phone and he held it for me to get there. The bike turned out to be all he said it was and more. He really didn't know what he had! Money was exchanged without further haggling. I rode it with the Texas plates as the owner offered them to me but I could have got a temp tag from the Texas DMV if I needed to.

No problems at the border with US Customs as I sent them the title over a week in advance and I did a title search as well to be sure it was clean before I went down there. I checked with Honda to be sure the recalls were done and there was one open item which I had done at the local dealer under warranty. The Canada Customs guys looked everything over pretty close as the value was low on the bill of sale, but it was legit. If you ever do it, make sure your story is air tight including copies of the classified ad for the bike, e-mails to the seller and even down to the receipt for the withdrawl at the bank where you got the money to pay for it. They are paid to be suspicious and they are good at it! The border guys don't care about the plates or the insurance, just the tax money but be sure to protect yourself by insuring the bike properly or pick it up with a trailer.

That is the rest of the story.
