Well, I got my VFR is February and took my first weekend road trip the weekend of 4/23. We were on our way to Blairsville, Georgia, by the long way through the NC Mountains. My trip lasted roughly 6 hours. On highway 28, near Fontana Dam before you get to the Dragon, I crashed. I wasn't speeding, but I was a little fatigued. I came around this one corner and fixated a bit too much on a guard rail. I realized what I was doing and tried to correct for it, but the front wheel wobbled a little and she went down right in the middle of my lane. My beautiful VFR is no more. I broke my collar bone in two places and have severe contusions up my left side. I will find out tomorrow if I will need surgery or not on the collar bone. My riding days are over. I have two small children at home and this was my wakeup call. I guess I am not the fall off the horse and get right back on kind of guy. I am a shoot the damn horse kind of guy. Anyway, thanks too all you guys that I have corresponded with through VFR World. I will be coming on here to try to peddle a few items I have that were never used or slightly used for my VFR. Where is the best place to list those things, classifieds? I have a really nice Luggage Locker soft tail bag that fits over the seat that I just got in the mail today, I ordered it on April 6th and just got it today. Maybe somebody will like to purchase mine if they were in the market and save a few bucks. Someone let me know the best place to list items for sale, I am assuming classifieds but want to be sure.

    Thanks
    Ride Safe

Sorry to hear about your close encounter of the concrete kind. I'm glad you're able to tell us about it, however. I always hate to see someone give up riding, but you've got to do what you've got to do brother. And your children definitely do need you. Take care, bro. And raise those young 'uns well.

As far as riding again, your first reaction is usually the right one. Everyone is different. Definitely glad to hear that you'll be OK.

Sorry to hear about your crash, but worse, your injuries. Hopefully it's not too bad. I fully understand your position on riding. I was there after my first big accident. Thought I'd lost my career. You gotta do the best thing, and sometimes that means giving up things.

Good luck in your recovery and take care of your family.

Sorry to hear about your accident. As a volunteer EMT, I've seen a few of these and things could have been worse. Glad to hear you're still with us. Take the recovery slow and steady, get plenty of rest. You'll bounce back. Take care of the family, they are your most important treasure. Sorry to hear that your riding days are done. But, you have to do what right for you and your family. Remember, yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift, that's why it's called the present. Live every day to the fullest. Take care.

That's a no good situation. Hopefully everyone reading posts like this can take something from it to make the motorcycling community a more safe place.

If you're peddling a right side mirror I'd be interested =p.

Have a quick recovery man. Good luck

Sorry to hear what happened but glad you'll be ok. Good decison. I got hit in 2000 and gave up riding for 5 years. With my confidence and enthusiasm back, I'm back at it, more careful than ever. Make your priorities family and healing and the rest will take care of itself. Good luck,
    ---David

    Well shit.
    Heal fast.

The classified section is the best place to sell what you got. Some one might even want some of the rougher stuff, like those hard bags.
    Good luck.

Well, I did end up having surgery. Took 7 screws and a bunch of plates to put me back together. The first few days after surgery were really rough. My wife had to actually take me to the ER at 1:30 in the morning because after the nerve block wore off, the meds they gave me were not touching the pain I was in. I spent the first night post op in the ER getting IV pain killers leaving with an upgraded oral pain killer. The 24 staples they put in me are now out and I am healing nicely. Can't really do too much. The wife is even having to do my lawn work for me. I am however back to work, since being a systems analyst doesn't require much movement. Thanks for all your well wishes. Hope all you guys have a safe and fun summer.
