27 years ago my brother showed me some pics in a CycleWorld mag of a new Honda bike called an "Interceptor".

We then hopped into my crappy old VW and drove to the local (Anoka MN) motorcycle shop where we saw rows of these new bikes, in different displacements, all on their side-stands with their handlebars turned exactly the same. It was love at first sight. These new bikes were so different from the CB and shaft-drive V-twin Hondas. These new bikes were like rocketships! It was an overwhelming experience for this 19-year-old kid.

That same year I met Jintana Wilson. It was love at first sight She was so different from all the other girls I had known before. She was an overwhelming experience for this 19-year-old kid.

We got married (me and Jintana...not the Interceptor), had kids, got a house, made dog payments etc.. Those beautiful bikes became a distant memory only to be seen occasionally through the window of our SUV when somebody else rode past.

Well guess what?! Jintana and I are still happily married, the kids are in college and this showed up on Craigslist last week! It's in my garage now. '83 VF750F, just like the ones my brother and I saw in that cycle shop so many years ago.

    Jinny has competition.

This thread is useless without pics of Jinny LOL !

Congrats on your "new" old bike. How handy are you with a wrench and what kinda shape is the Interceptor in (mileage, damage, etc.) ?? Everyone loves the older bikes but unfortunately most of them are unreliable and were poorly maintained during their prime. If the bike isn't in excellent shape be prepared to put significant time and money into it.

Geez you guys are going to get me in trouble. Here's Jinny with some guy she met at a Tupperware party.

As far as the bike goes it does appear to be adult owned and well taken care of, not in excellent shape but very good shape. Everything is there, nothing broken that can be seen and everything works. I'm certainly no expert when it comes to bike repair but I do work with tools daily on the job (I'm an airfield repairman). My Clymer manual is ordered.

first...don't ever admit that you were at a tupperware party here,,,thats like throwing blood into a sharks den. second nice catch...Jinny I mean and third nice catch on the bike...

forg et what all the folks are saying about money pit always gonna be broken, Blah blah blah. If your happy then put as much into it as you want....but be cautious, do what you can to prevent "catastrophic failures and you should be good to go...(do your regular maintanance) check the archives on oil mods, this will help deliver more oil to the top end, cam wear was a big problem with the first gen bikes.

Congrats and welcome to the looney bin....

    Thanks crustyrider,

Note to self: do not mention Tupperware parties... or pottery classes on VFRWorld ever again.

Now if you'll excuse me it's lunch time and I have to go and kill a bear with my bare hands... again.

Wow! friendly group here. I've been in Las Vegas NV since 1984 but still go back to Anoka to see family. Thank you for asking.

And in my defense a lot of WOMEN go to Tupperware parties, I'll draw the line at being a male football cheerleader however; there's a limit to what I'm willing to do to cop a feel.

oh yes Ed, you'll fit in just fine around here!....a sense of humour is mandatory.

congrats on the Gen1 purchase. i still love those old girls despite the 'issues' they had at the time, and like you i was a young and impressionable 19 when they came out.

check out my albums for an original gen 1 sales brochure.
