I think as long as we play nice and don't get stupid the cops should leave us alone, but you never know. It doesn't matter to me what day of the week we do the ride... I go with the flow.

hey Dan! i definitely thought about where the cops might be on monday. i'm hoping the gap will be open and that it will be heavy with traffic so the cops will leave us alone on the cherohala (IF we do this route monday). the primary reason i mention this route for monday is that tellico plains, ducktown, reliance, etc. aren't exactly tourist destinations and they are not really areas one passes through to get to a tourist destination either. going through highlands, cashiers and some of the other places in nc last week, i noticed these areas to be places where folks have 2nd homes. in other words, touristy areas - golfers, trinket hunters, bmw/lexus drivers, ad nauseum... not many things do i dislike more than waiting in traffic and having my right leg toasting.
i'm not sure what the best solution is for memorial day. any suggestions would be welcome. :attention:

speaking of routes, the nc route is a blast but there are a few 'warts'. the route is simple and mapped in a flyer for the kickstandloge.
from the ksl, 28 south thru franklin to highlands.
take 64e to 215n to 276s back to 64w. 64w to 281n to 107n to sylva then onto 74/19 to bryson city to buy beer. lots of beer.
i did get a little turned around when trying to find 74 in sylva. hell if we're that close, it's everyone for themselves:kc10:
rc24rc51 (dan) did remind me that 281 has gravel on it (chip seal?). the first half sucked but it did clear up and was enjoyable. it's gonna be a great road in a year of two. i'm sure that by the time we ride it, even more gravel will be pushed off. the problem is that sometimes it looked like loose gravel but wasn't and other times when it looked like loose gravel, it was :scared:. i do not enjoy this type of road but as i mentioned earlier, it does clear up. just be careful until then.
the warts? traffic around highlands and cashiers, gravel on 281n, some confusion around sylva (getting us toward bryson city).
maybe Dan has a better mod to this route. what say ye Dan?

hey gang! when i was at the ksl last week, mo was telling me of a group (metric cruisers) that she will no longer have there because several a$$holes wrecked it for the entire group. the offenders would often not pay for meals, pay for tent site but stay in an empty cabin, not pay for firewood, etc...i know this won't happen with our group but if there are a few of you who pride themselves on ripping off folks of to save a few bucks, please stay elsewhere or just stay home. remember...karma!

It really sucks that "bikers" would take advantage of Mo like that, she seems so nice.As you said they will get theirs.. How many are still coming to the g2g? I know some have dropped out.

I always try and avoid 64 thru Highlands but there are short cuts to 28 south towards warwomen rd. The other option that I told you guys about is grabbing Walnut Creek rd around Glenville Lake to NC107. You can go either way on 107 south to Cashiers and SC or north to 281 or Sylva. My buddy and I were planning on coming up sometime monday afternoon or evening and riding tue, wed, thru. If most everone else is arriving Sunday we may want to rethink that. It will all depend on my work schedule. I like the idea of hanging out on monday and watching everyone roll in. Sparky you must've come up 281 from the south end. Off of 64 or 215 by lake Toxaway. BTW count me +2

Comicus and I will be there as early as late Saturday until as late as Wed. And one more maybe. Now, should I bring the 87 700 F2 or the 2007 800?

    Dude,

You have already made it clear you are excited about this little get together so you don't need to keep posting every week telling us how warm and fuzzy you are feeling the closer it gets. It's just a bike get together and you are acting like a kid who is about to get some pussy for the first time.
