Why is there a little punch mark on every carberator screw?
Look at your float bowls etc.,.

 

Is that where the thread starts on the other end as to avoid cross threading the expensive (and aluminum) carburetor bodies? Just a guess...

 

It's what's referred to as "Staking". It's commonly done on a fastener that doesn't allow the use of a lock washer. It's purpose is to keep the screw from backing out.

ANSWER:

All the
japanese motorcycles after 1964 have this punch mark on the carb screws.
The reason is that they changed from the IJS (International Japanese Standard), to the ISO (International Standards Organization) threads on the screws.
So to keep mechanics from using the wrong screws and causing a leak or a fire the punch mark was put on the screw to identify it as a ISO type screw.

I found out in 1968 when I started working in my first HONDA shop job as a mechanic.
