Hi all. New guy here from So Cal. I live in Norco which is a horsetown in Riverside county. I just purchased an 02 VFR800 yesterday. Going to go pick her up tomorrow morning down in Oceanside. It will be a nice little 75 mile ride home to test er out:biggrin:

I bought the bike mainly to commute to work with. It's a 100 mile round trip for me everyday:crazy: Be nice to have a ride that gets 40 MPG instead of the 23 MPG I get with the car. Looking forward to utilizing the search function and being a contributor to the site...once I get some VFR knowledge:bounce:

Welcome to the madness my friend!! Everything you hear about the SoCal contingent is probably true. As was mentioned, mark your calendar for the last weekend in May, and join us for SLO 2010. You will not regret it. Ride safe.

Here it is. I got lucky today. Rode the Metrolink train down to Ocenaside, and the shop owner picked me up. Soon as we got to his shop it started raining  Just hung around for a while shootin the breeze, then the rain let up  Was able to make the 75 mile trip home without hitting a drop
Definitely know I need new bars to get a little more upright. Had some pretty good numbness in my right hand when I got home. Might also look into a new taller winshield. Wind seems to be hitting me right smack in the middle of my face shield.
Hard to get used to a more "open" bike after riding Goldwings
Bike sure rides smooth and quiet. I forgot it was a 6 speed and was riding the first 10 miles in 5th gear going home:redface:
I think the speedo is off though. Have to dial in my GPS and check it out.

We'll see how long I leave it silver, before I paint it or put graphics on it. Seems kinda plain right now.

Looks like a nice ride. I like the silver but I think it would look good with the VFR graphic on the side. Also I recently purchased an 07 and after about a week of riding the numbness and soreness in my wrists went away because I had started riding her correctly. You might want to try it out for a little longer before doing bigger investments in mods.

I'll do a search for some

Yeah, once I get used to the "feel" of the bike, and relax a little more, it might be alright.

What??? :jaw: Silver is the greatest color! She sure looks good! The Zero G screen you have on there is the lowest they make for the VFR. You might want to invest in their double bubble style as it gives a lot more wind protection. I'm 6'0 and the wind passes right over me. +1 on getting used to the bike before you invest in the bars. Enjoy getting used to her; she'll treat you right :thumb:

Alright thanks. I was wondering if that screen was aftermarket or just a sticker on there. I'll look for a stocker or double bubble, for trade hopefully.

Heli bars + Sargent seats would make your daily commute much more comfy.

I'll try out some grip puppies first, to see if that helps. Maybe a different pair of gloves..."gel" ?

Hello and welcome to the nuthouse .....please make sure your seatbacks and tray-tables are in an upright and locked position before posting...

Oh, and I second the Sargent seat......I never knew what I was missing until I got one. My :ass: thinks it is 100 times better than the stocker.
