I swear I look at these bikes on Craigslist that are real cheap and I just want to bring them all home and take care of them. Get them healthy and back on the road.

You could go broke before you have a ridable bike......IF you have a ridable bike

Leave the gen 1s in the scrap pile, and invest in the much improved later generations cuz you'll have a better bike with better parts availability and more reliability.

"Buy the newest bike you can afford" is good advice if you want to ride more than wrench and look for parts.

The first step in the healing process is to admit that you have a problem...

    +2 0n that!

My problem is I don't know which problem to work on first!

Having a warehouse full of interceptors needing love could be fun:tongue:

Lets see, one collectable looker, one for the strip, one for the street and one just to tour with. Sounds perfect!

I know of what you speak, it must be let go unless it for a part out in the benefit of others that suffer the same plague.

I second that, poor fellow seems on a downer of late? Cheer up Squirrel, we all have different interests and it was a first gen that got me back on two wheels last year.
Some like me enjoy tinkering and I find it soothing, haha.

no need to buy new when you can buy cheap bikes and have your own parts bin .Just finished building a first gen 750 for a friend only needed a couple of things i had kicking around to make it safe and sound for the road .All in fresh paint included less than a g note .Ill see if i can get her to post befor and after pics to see if it was worth rescuing or not .
My long term goal is to have one red and one blue stock painted in each size ,I have all the bikes now just need to put them together

Project bikes are fun if it you have the time. I sold my '63 Triumph Speed Twin basket case so I could buy my ride-able '87 VFR700. It's the best thing I ever did. There's always more to be done to the bike, but at least I can do it without impacting my riding time.

Well, I must say, while not being of the club that wants to restore these old Interceptors, that young lady certainly looks happy....and what could be wrong withe that?

Let me tell you something you already know, and that is that when you make a young lady happy, you have done the right thing

Sooo ...she's a real cutie ....I mean ...oh nevermind.

    Nice work RT!!!!!

I can hear the sad music in the backgroud now while the slide show of abused and forgotten Interceptors pan across the screen with tears of rainwater dripping from their headlights....

I have been working on a 1984 Ninja GPZ900. Trust me, squirrelman is just a realist on the 'I'm going to buy a fixer upper and ride it cheap' mentality.

Its different when somene with time, money and tools takes on one of these deals. But if you are some poor college kid and want to ride? Steer clear! Go buy a Ninja 250 and actually go RIDING.

I was just watching Top Gun last night and started trolling CL for one of these. Every time I watch it I get the urge again. Thanks for keeping me on the straight path again BZ.
