Just picked up 85 VF1000R!!

I finally ran across one! It runs awesome and has Yosh R&D pipes. Overall in good shape and never crashed..Need to get some better rubber on it and change oil and I will be HONKIN down the road..

It looks to be in great shape. They are really hard to come by in decent condition. I love the low end torque of this motor. It definitely has more juice than the 800. I'd love to stuff this motor in the 800 chassis. Congratulations on the purchase.

With proper maintenance, I understand that you can go 100K. Some will say that this bike had the top-end oiling problems, but I haven't seen anything that is conclusive. That problem mainly affected the VF700/750.

I was 19 when these came out. They didn't even have one of them at our local cycle shop. Saw one passing by me back in 1988! So when I saw this for sale on craigslist. I had to get it. Always druwled over them in the mags. I think I will have to keep this one a long time.

Same deal for me with seeing these in my teens: I remember when I was in school a kid had a 500 he'd ride regularly, and his dad got a 1KR that he'd bring once in awhile.
