    Hey all!

Well, I've been lusting and lurking for....ahem...a few YEARS now and I finally found myself a 5th gen. It's a '98 and in truly AWSUMMM shape! I'll be picking it up on Wednesday (weather permitting). I've been riding a 1984 700 Sabre for about 3 years and the V4 bug is firmly planted, but I have wanted a 5th for quite some time now. WOW... a bike that's STILL too young to drink-what a concept! Now that I actually have one, I'll be posting a bit more, but this site has already been a tremendous help. Best to all!

    Tim

    Hiya Stosh,

Well pics will have to wait until I get her home unfortunately. It's a plain ol' 98 VFR, red, completely stock except for a Staintunes Hi mount and nicely polished wheels.

What took so long? UGHHHHHH! Munny, personal situ, correct alignment of the moon and stars....take ur pick or select all 3 LOL! At least I finally HAVE one!

PO stripped and polished them. I was wondering if that would be noticed, since I didn't even realize that the stock wheels were painted on these bikes until he pointed that out to me. Having the high mount pipe really lets you see that nicely polished rear wheel, but it will be WORK trying to keep it nice looking. I'm not known for spending a lot of time cleaning my bikes....I'd rather RIDE them! I'd never make it with the cruiser crowd LOL!

Once you get it cleaned and polished really well, try some ZOOP Seal on the wheels to lock in the hard work you did. Maybe have to reapply it midway through the season.... but it will keep it looking better, longer.

^ tip from us in the "cruiser crowd"

Holy Smokers you weren't kidding Tim,for a plain old stock Red '98 she sure is Purdy! :faint:

I like your matching gas tank cover too. Do you know offhand who makes that tank cover?
That isn't made by Top Saddlery is it?

Thanks man. The tank bag is a K Drive. Not familiar with the brand, but perhaps you've heard of it. I has a tank cover to which the actual bag attaches with plastic clips. This is my first tank bag so maybe that's a standard setup. Anyway, both the bag and the cover are leather...definitely a nice setup. My only complaint about it is that the plastic clip on the left side of the tank aligns perfectly with the horn button and when maneuvering the bike in a parking lot and turning the bars full left causes the horn to sound!

Looks like another diamond in the rough has been located! The bike looks awesome and obviously well cared for plus a pipe to let the V4 music echo in the hills of NC. Looks like you have a great place to keep her too!

    Congrats!
