Ok, so my wife says I am allowed only one bike due to space issues so I sold my CBR F4i (which I had since '03, loved her, the bike that is) and finally got an '02 VFR (non-abs) with 4700k miles on her. SCORE...

So I am looking to do several upgrades but first on the list is Galfer cables front & back and I heard it's a good idea to the clutch since the fluids are being flushed. What I would like to know is what do I need? I looked on-line and proces range from $150 to $450. To me it's a no brainer, but then again maybe not. Can anyone help?

I saw the following links but one only lists a price for the ABS version...
    VFR 800
    Pricing

    Thanks all..

I have the galfer brake and clutch lines on my 5th gen. I'd say the price discrepancy is in the amount of cable you get. Some people only do the front, while others do all the way on the linked system which costs a bit more. On my bike, I have the whole thing done, but mine was comped in order for them to figure out the process and make their how-to video so I actually don't know what they charge. I know it's a big improvement on braking, though. I can't really tell the difference on the clutch, but I'm sure it can't hurt.

I don't think that's true. I can tell you this, though. Tori, one of our members, got another company to make cables for him to the length he specified for the front brakes only. He was very pleased with the results, and the costs are considerably lower. The rear brake, as you know, is not nearly used as much as the front. I'll see if I can find his post about that around here. I suspect, though that you can get galfer for your bike just the same as I can. I'm just not sure they have specifically made a "kit". Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the 'kit' for the 5th gen LBS system was the same thing you'd use, but without pulling out all those lines to measure, who knows...

    1. Robert is the guy that I dealt with that installed my lines for the 5th gen tutorial. He seems like a stand up guy. I know nothing about a 6th gen being done, though.

    2. There are several who have eliminated the LBS. It's a chore, though. You can search for member:mello dude and read his full tutorial on how to do it, but it's much more involved than just adding steel braided cables.
