It came in on Friday 4/2 at Tousley Motorsports in White Bear Lake, MN. It's the only one they've received so far. They've had a couple customers wanting to order the new one as well but evidently all in the midwest are spoken for. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet due to the cold weather but I'll give my impression as soon as I do!

No, traded the '04. It was mint with 6 k miles, OEM saddle bags, Sargent saddle, new battery and good Dunlop Roadsmarts. They gave me $4350.00 for it on trade! I know.......... it's SAD! I'm keeping the CBR1krr and the KLR 650 for a long time to come, however!

Actually, $4350.00 is not bad at all for a trade in this economy. A friend just sold his 04 (great condition) for $4500 to a private seller.

    Congrats on your new baby.

Got it. Saw you bought it at White Bear and assumed you lived around Minneapolis.

Nevertheless, bust out the heated gear and the Aerostich and let us know how you like it!

Yep, the exhaust and fender are ugly. That said, I can't think of a modern sport style bike that doesn't need the fender and OEM can replaced as the first order of business. It's not at all like the VFR 1200 stands alone in this catergory, just look at the can and fender on the new RSV4's. Congrats on your new ride, I'm sure it's going to be a great addition!

It's in my garage. I would say it feels a lot like the gen6 sitting on it and pushing it around. Just driving it up and down my block it has MONSTER torque off idle. Very comfortable seating / geometry. The fit and finish are second to none! Oh yeah..... It sounds sweet too!

I have an '08, my dealer gave a test ride on the 1200 last week. Riding them back to back, plus side by side comparison at the dealer floor, I say the riding positions and wind protection are very, very similar.

Do you have any more info from your comparison? What about the power output and delivery? Does it get down and dirty, or just get down?

There's no need for anyone to complain about the stock exhaust anymore. Akrapovik has a nice looking aftermarket can available for it now. The other problems are sure to be addressed soon enough via aftermarket solutions. The only time you can expect to be able to completely customize a new bike from head to toe the day it is released to the public is when it is a Harley and that is only because they haven't changed designs for 30 years, just colors and the amount of chrome.

Right now my initial impression is: Think of it as a gen 6 with 50 % more horsepower. With that said, I plan on giving it a pretty good shakedown this weekend. I'll report back with the results.
