Since allowing me my opinion, what is your opinion now of the new VFR1200 since a couple of guys now have them and are writing what most I beleive would call unbiased reports on same? No change of mind at all other than the obsession you have with the size of the tank?

Do women really leave you stranded at bars? YIKES! Maybe you are not waiting for the right moment to ask them to show you thier tits.

There isn't enough info/field-testing on the VFR1200 yet to know how they stack up as far as reliability. Give the new owners some time to break them in, then we can decide if they are plagued by any kind of consistent problems that future riders will look back on and classify the same as the RR issue on the previous VFRs. When are you expecting your VFR1200 to arrive?

I am less concerned with a bike having reliability problems and leaving someone stranded than this problem with women you have. The R/R problem is basically solved for all but the noobs. I do have a theory on this woman problem. I hope you are not by implication leading these women into believing that the Shadow you ride is a Harley and when they find out it's not, they walk off. Then again it could be that they just don't like those short schooners of Bud Light that are the least expensive drinks in the place.

With the amount of interest my earnest money would earn in the bank, I am not worried about specific delivery. This dealer will be all over the place with the news as soon as he gets any of the new bikes in.

If this new one does crap out I have roadside assistance insurance through my insurer for the magnificent sum of four bucks a year and I am a member of HRC. Which BTW is a hell of a good deal for anyone even if they only ride back and forth to WalMart or the local meat market..

That thing's been long enough in the design phase I'd be shocked if it had land mines of the scale that plagued previous generation VFRs. It'll only be a matter of whether it serves the needs of the buying public.

For someone who has a new bike on order, he's awefully hurt by other people that aren't as smittin with it. If a 3/4 ton truck doesn't suit the needs of my neighbor, it's no skin off my back if they think it's too big, guzzles fuel, and rides rough. Different strokes for different folks man, get over it.

elwray, did you hear the 1200 comes factory with a Garmin Zumo and those little whistle things on the front to scare off moose?

Just a tip - elwray rides a VTX, not a Shadow.

? I don't ride a Shadow... it's a VTX. Pretty hard to pass a shaft drive off as a Harley, if one were so inclined..?

Okay maybe the term "plagued" is an over exaggeration. But I would say it was at least "fairly common". Seems like Honda has put a LOT of thought into the new design though. Hopefully it serves them well.

are you gonna post pictures of "the new ride" or is this another tall tail from billy the kid? how about pictures of ANY of your bikes... you have four right? so the VFR1200 wil be five? So how about it.

sticking to the topic.. the worst bike to buy? I would have to say one from a youngster, I mean like anyone between the ages of 21-30. especially if your buying a GSXR, R-1, or a CBR, the bike has probably been ass raped then ass raped again tehn flogged a shit load then .... well you get the picture, I see a lot of new bikes around here that I wouldn't buy from the owners cause they (the bikes) have been stunted stoppied and wheelied enough to shake the engine bolts loose.. I would say buyer beware on whether or not your "buying the worst bike"

Good call. I linked a craigslist add to vfourbear earlier this week for a CBR900 where the listing said, "has no title. Due to my driving record I can't get a title for it." Bear essentially echo'd your same words about it being ass raped so hard that the guy had his license taken away and now he's selling it. Where do I sign up?

    - anything stunted
    - anything without a title
    - anything raced (track OK, raced bad - look for safety wire)
    - anything with visible signs of neglect (corrosion, rust, missing fasteners) beyond it's years
    - anything that Zanetti wrenched on or was painted in barney colors

Since the advent of fuel injection on bikes, many people no longer wish to own a carbed bike. If youre talking about old bikes, and I mean old, the old Brit bikes with Lucas electrical systems were a nightmare, from what I understand. AMF vintage HDs were known for just about non existant quality control, since apparently the morale at HD coupled with shoddy management just about did them in, they were only able to save themselves by first convincing the government to tax big bore import bikes, then finally dump AMF and fly on their own. All this is pretty much common knowledge for anyone interested in bikes and of "a certain age".

The worst bike one can buy currently in my opinion is one of those custom chopper thingies, like Big Dogs or Ultras or whatever, those things were just stupid crazy overpriced, and the fad ran its course long ago. So many of them were sold and so many TV shows done on them that theyre just beat to death. I'll bet you couldnt give one away now. Poetic justice....heehehehehehe

Oh and if you buy a Honda DN01, well, there's no hope for you....none.

Ahh yes...the infamous DN01, forgot about that sexy looker. The dealership I do business with has had the same one posing on their floor since it's delivery. The entire staff has turned it into an ongoing joke. They're evening running a pool as to when it will finally sell.

It might be found that certain elements of the bike are still in the design phase driven by input from owners and forthcoming owners. If landmines are that R/R problem I submit once again, that that problem is solvable. There is a post on another much older VFR BB lining out a fix from as I recall about 1993 using a muffin fan wired into the taillight circuit. Best deal is to just carry a spare this is much like pre planning rides when gas stations are few and far between and those with small tanks are fretting.

No truck or RV so I really can't comment about your neighbors choices. He is probably happy with a large gas tank or he knows where the gas stations lie in wait for the hapless traveler out there in the hinterlands.

I like the way you grasp for straws. The guy from OZ hit some bigass potholes somewhere in a country that most of us will never see and the bike rides rough? LOL. I am thinking you really do not know much about motorcycles and are faking it. The "big" issue is relative. If you want to talk big how bout a Wing with all the goodies. That's big..

Dragging another guy into the mix here is a red herring. I see that in fact you state you have and ride a Shadow or do you? Nice bikes mechanically and the tooling is by now amortized keeping the price down. Trying to pass one off as a HD and playing bad boy in a tavern might be the very reason those chicas are bugging out on you.

Again, your sensitivity in this matter shows thru. Maybe it's because you don't own a truck as you said or it's because you have a 1200 on order and are concerned about it? Either way, I was mearly referencing that a 3/4 ton truck rides rough and some people don't like it. A reference to "different strokes for different folks." Because one feature is the BOMB to one guy, it sucks rocks to the next. It doesn't make one guy right or wrong, it just is what is man.

Go back and read it man, you're the one that quoted another guy. Sure, I ride a Shadow. elwray rides a VTX. Not sure where the reference to passing them off as a HD comes from. Maybe it's that redirected sensitivity again. Are you about to cry because I'm sure we can find SOMEONE to offer you a hug. :makeout: Fortunately I'm married now so I don't need to worry about your dating advice.
