Hey, noobie from Richmond va here. Heading out to ride today. If a few other VFR'ers want to meet up tomorrow I am down for a group.

I just got a 1991 Honda VFR 750, its been 8 years since I owned a bike and was stuck in turbo honda's. Just trying to get my feet wet again and start riding more. I dont know to much about the VFR's. So luckily google has some awesomeness behind it.

Had a good ride yesterday, though I tried a different route out to the country store at 522 & 208, and the new route was slow, bad roads and had a detour... So took the ole route home, and had a lot of fun...

Looks like today may be as good a day, even though last I knew they were predicting rain; but, I've got an apartment to clean, and chores to do... Decisions, decisions...

A good ride for us Richmond'ers

A touch over 5 hours without any stops. All back roads and beautiful sight seeing. I made this trip on sat, and plan to take the same route this weekend ( weather permitting ).

Was out for a nice ride Friday. Rt 3 to 20 towards Orange. Took back roads over to 522 and swung up through Culpeper. More back roads through Brandy Station and Elkwood. Still some potholes that need to be hotpatched but most of the sand seems to be off the back roads. Lots of fellow bikers out and about. Took it rather easy after the long winter off, just getting into the swing of it again.

So, tried new route, out 218, down 301, then back on 17. 218 has some really nice curves, with elevation changes, but bunched together for only a quarter of the route. 301 is a nice higher speed jaunt down a state, 4-lane with island, highway. Then 17 was a very pretty, scenic, higher speed two-lane sweeper of a ride back. All in all, not a bad route. I did get a bit cold though...

i heard that they dropped the speed limit down to 35 on 218, is that true? i thought it was pretty unexciting at 45-50 lol. gotta watch out with all those driveways on there. though.

Naw, it's 35 at the beginning leaving F'burg, but speeds up after that. Stay's at the 45-50 mark though (not that I ride that). I agree not the best, but not bad for right around town.

I would love to, however I have to do employee reviews for my staff all day Thurs and Fri; I really don't get to ride much except on weekends, as I usually work 'til 6'ish in the evening, and I wear a monkey suit (business suit) at work (and ONLY at work), so don't usually ride to work either... This coming weekend, I am hoping desperately that my family will be moving down, if everything goes well on the closing of our house for Monday... So will likely not be riding, although the weather may force me to take a quick one.

Having been here so short of time, I don't really know the area very well. I have scoped out a couple routes; 208 out to 522, that's my fav so far; I tried another roundabout way to loop out to 522, turned out to be slow, bad roads and detours; plus this route I took today, which was just OK. If anything, I'd rather hook up with folks who know the area and can show me some good routes. CiscoKid took me out the end of last year, but I couldn't repeat that route if I had a gun to my head...

Basically, I'm a recreational rider, and if I don't have anything going on, I'm up for a ride any nice weekend. Now, that's not to say I'm averse to breaking out some hard riding, just means if it ain't fun, I don't do it; I'm not an "iron butt'er", don't like riding in the rain or cold (but will if I have to, to get somewhere important), nor do I need to "challenge" myself, I did all that when I was young, on the track. Now I'm all about fun, preferably at 70-80 mph.
