I replaced the seal on my VF750F 2 years ago and now it's weeping again. I used an aftermarket seal. I guess that was a mistake. So, the OEM is best?

As long as I am doing the job, any suggestions on modding the suspension? Or should I leave it alone?

My 6th G just runs and runs and runs. Nothiing ever goes wrong. My 1st G is needy.

    Calgary!

Truly my fork seal also began to leak while the bike was just sitting, waiting for spring. Unreal!

OEM is better in this situation. You sure you have them installed correctly (lettering facing up)?
You sure the fork tubes are smooth and true? If you feel any grooving or burrs with your bare fingers and fingernails you'll get leaking.

Curious if pumping your forks once or twice a weak would prevent the leaking while in storage. Maybe the seals are drying out and contracting just a bit... idunno but that does suck. Sorry man.

The bike had been in storage for 18 months.

When I bought the bike the PO said he had the fork tubes straightened . . . .

well I just spent a lot of time and effort putting OEM seals on the 87. Since then I've put about 300 miles on her and no leaks as of yet. Perhaps OEM is the only way to go for these

I have heard that said. As a matter of fact, I believe that is one of the few times I bought oem parts for my bike was the last time I had the seals replaced.

This is a messy job and I don't have an impact wrench. I wonder if it makes sense to pull the fork legs and take them to the dealer for seal install? ("Don't flame me, Bro!")

I had a Kawasaki that leaked after sitting, I lifted up the dust seals and put brake fluid on the seals and they softend or swelled and was fine for the next year I rode it.

It is an easy job and best to learn to do it yourself. You will most likely do a better job than some yahoo that does not care aboot you or your bike.

That would worry me a bit unless he had receipts for the work.
You might want to check those on a flat surface when you change them out, otherwise they'll leak and stick.

I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my forks. What a pain....and a smelly mess too.
