    hello, group
i am very happy to announce i just got my 2008 abs gray with 1500 miles on the clock...
    I am in Colorado/NM.
essentially new rider, so safety course and endorsement test later in the week ( i rode bike in college, that's at least 10 years ago), never got endorsement through... I think i have about 50 hours of ride time on sport bikes..
i am older, hopefully wiser, so starting with safety class first :)

need to do more reading ( need gear -everything, frame sliders to minimize "oops")
    looking forward to get acquainted

Like abner said, MSF course. Take the Basic Rider Course (BRC) and when you have time take the Experienced Rider Course (ERC). And if you can find a specific sport bike course in your area, I highly recommend it. I'm recently retired Active Duty and they used to only make us take the BRC. Here recently with all the sport bike deaths, they've developed a specific sport bike course. It's like the ERC, only tailored to sport bikes. Gets you more comfortable cornering. I've taken the BRC a couple of times (first back in 1993 and second in 2003) and the ERC once, but the most fun I had was with the sport bike course. By the time I was done I almost didn't have chicken strips. They really got me comfortable leaning the bike over and cornering. So, here's my $0.02: get gear (I highly recommend newenough.com), get your MSF courses in, and most of all have fun and be safe. Good luck with the riding and welcome to the forum.

ilber: Welcome to the World! I hope you enjoy your choice, I certainly love my red '07. I had a longer break in riding than you; back in 1967 I rode a BSA 75 cc Starlite, then took a 40+ year break until I realized I needed a bike two years ago. Be safe, have fun!

afpierce489: Who does the sport bike course you took? I'm a fellow Conneticut rider (Wallingford) so location shouldn't be an issue. As mentioned above, I'm still a relatively low time/mileage guy myself so extending the training wouldn't be at all amiss.

Bob, unfortunately I took my course through the military. I haven't found anything in our area that is comparable to it except the ERC. I've checked with the MSF and there is no course offered through them commercially. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply. Actually I just found that the Motorcycle Safety Training Center in Plainfield offers an "Advanced Rider Course" that they say is based on the military sport bike course. I might have to check it out.

By the way, the 750F is absolutely gorgeous.

Bob, I just did some more digging and found the same thing. I was going to post the link, but I see you allready found it. It was a really good course. I've actually been out to Motorsports Nation in Plainfield and their site is pretty good. Very large and open parking lot, but segregated off from traffic. If I didn't get it for free in the military, I would definitely pay the $120 they are asking. If you've taken the ERC then you'll be pleased. It's like the ERC only with tighter turns. This is my first "sport" bike and by the end of this course I was scraping pegs. I got very comfortable with the bike in a short period of time. Any other questions, let me know.

For those in the New England area (CT specifically), here is the link to the website. You may want to check your area for similar courses.

    Thanks every one.
as far as rider's education it is a BRC course offered by T3rg folks in my area. Pictures? i brought the bike/well old owner rode it to my house following my car:). the problem was it was supposed to be overcast day.... but with my luck we hit BLIZZARD.... yep a sports bike in a snow! we took it really slow and easy ( i was driving my "summer fun" car so i was hunting for traction myself).... so we we brought the bike it looked dirty ( in more sence than one! you are not suppose to have 4" ice buildup on the outside of the mirrors!) so i'd rather forget how does VFR looks in snow :). I have been away from home for last almost 2 weeks...so i will get some pictures. in all honesty rear grab handles are removed otherwise looks brand new not a dig or scratch ( well it is essentially a new bike).
advance rider course.... possibly in the future
gear: newenough-got my firstgeaar over pants; araia corsair V helmet, alpinestar gloves with carboninserts from stg, and from another vendor firstgear brand rainier 2010 jacket ( well that one is msrp, but i like my skin, so i am paying)... looking for a cover ( at home got garage, in NM car port only), ordered cut-free frame sliders..... i know the argument, but i just can't get myself to cut the coolant bottle, so have to go with these sliders and hope never to use them ( which actually goes for all the gear)
    thanks again guys/gals!
    ilya
    i think I am mentally ready :)

I honestly was planning to snap it today, but one thing led to another... i took bike to work, and from work my 2.8 mile commute ended up through the canyon/high road.... well 3 hours later and ~110 miles :) i am home.... tomorow i am taking car ( i am kinda hurting, especially foarms) so I WILL SNAP THEM TOMOROW, PROMISS!
noticed that highway driving at 60 ambient i am at 170-190
today at lower speeds 40-50 mph with A LOT OF shifting, ocasional stop signes/traffic lights with ambient of 70+ degrees engine coolant on a traffic stop hit 220, even fan kicked ( at least sonded like that), going in 4th temp hold steady at 210-214 ( i was perhaphs 10,000 altitude) but upon my decent i dropped all the way to 170.... oh yeah i got to expirience v-tech today ( accelerating to merge).... what a rush!
