I have a picture of my bike on the trailer as my desktop background on my work PC. One of our salesmen came in and asked "Is that your bike?" I replied yeah, I got it about a month ago, the picture is when we were towing it back from Minnesota. He then proceded to tell me how he's not a "motorcycle person" and then listed a few reasons as to why.

The funny thing about it is that most of the reasons he listed that he's not a bike person are the reasons that I am.

Funny how that works. Back in 1981, I bought a new Mazda RX7 and had it delivered to my place of business. I asked the delivery driver how he liked it, and he replied (more or less), "It's a good car, but I wouldn't own one because it only has two seats."

That was one of the reasons that I bought it.

Recalling my favorite saying concerning tattoos: What's the difference between people with tattoos and those without? People with tattoos dont care if you dont have one....

Isn't it funny how people always chime in when you are doing anything with a motorcycle. Whether it's on a desktop background, riding, talking with some friends, reading a magazine, etc....... Yesterday as I was filling up, an older lady comes up to me and tells me that her son totaled his bike last fall and then told me to be careful. I thanked her politely and carried on.

Is it just me or does everyone who knows someone that wrecked/crashed/totaled/killed etc on a bike all say the same thing.

"_______ knew how to ride. Someone hit him."

I'm not buying it. I left a parking lot yesterday. A guy on a late 90's CBR had a flat, not low, a flat. I waved at him & told him so. He said it's OK & rolled away. He's exactly the person who's mom would say he wasn't speeding & he was a good boy. People are stupid.

    KC-10 FE out...

Interesting - I'm always amazed at how comfortable people in the work place (co-workers, customers, etc.) feel to make offensive comments and give their opinion on "everything"! I wouldn't dream of going into another person's office, look at their personal stuff and then proceed to tell them how I don't like their fat wife, ugly kids and 80's dried flower arrangements! What ever happened to making a nice comment if you happen to notice something that points out a common interest or (God forbid) not saying any thing at all if I don't have anything nice to say???

Being a nurse especially in ER or ICU, you get to hear opinions about the dangers of motorcycles all the time. sometimes I argue sometimes I ignore them, but always I think to myself, "Why do people who don't ride presume to be experts about riding and it's dangers? I don't go around trying to teach people to play canasta. I have never played so I don't say be careful with that canasta, I knew a guy that became terminally boring and blew his brains out after an all-night canasta tourney."

Sounds like your salesman was self justifying on why he doesn't ride. If he really didn't care for it then it wouldn't have be an issue, but for some reason he felt the need to convince himself in why he doesn't ride. I don't think your presence there mattered, he just needed to talk in front of someone to complete the illusion.
