I've posted before about "best sounding bikes", and the VFR is one of my favorites. Yesterday, my son was home for a visit, and as it was 60 degrees, we took a ride on the VFR & the ZRX. Both bikes have Akrapovic can's, with the ZRX a full system and the VFR a midpipe, and can, both titanium. So we're on a country road, no traffic, so i have the boy get on the VFR while I stand on the side of the road with my helmet off, earplugs out............Holy sh*t!!! The VFR is LOUD. I mean it sounded like a Nascar racer, and worse I could hear it clearly over a mile away at partial throttle! The ZRX, 1200cc's, is much stealthier, and only gets loud over 5 or 6000 rpm's. How can I ride this thing like the hooligan I am, if i can be heard over a mile away? Sounds like there's no packing, but the rivets on both cans look stock. Anyone ever repacked an Akrapovic?? I didn't realize how loud it was because I ALWAYS wear earplugs. Any suggestions? It does sound awsome, but waaay too loud for my liking!

Mikromo, what year is your VFR? What model/type of Akropovic exhaust do you have on it?

5th Gen, 19,000 miles, can was on it when I got it, so I'm not sure of the model, I've got a silent sport packing kit brand new. I guess you have to drill out the rivets to pull the can apart. It also has a K&N, which may contribute. It sounds wicked bada** at 9000rpm or so, but dang, after that run & then me repeating it for the boy's sake.................the area cows may have stopped producing milk yesterday!

I really wonder sometimes if I can take that awesomely cool looking R1 Akrapovic slip on's and put them on my 02. I have seen pics of a member on this forum who has R1 stock cans on his 6th Gen. Wonder how much work the Akrapovic's would entail, and if they will rob power since they are not meant for the 6th Gen. But in my mind it would look really really cool.

It can be done and would not affect anything.. it's just like putting anyother afermarket exhust on it, just alot more work.
I'm thinking D7D cans myself but also eyeing the akrapovics

we could probably take any low or high mount for the 5th gen vfr and mount them to our 6th gens with little to no effort since they will fit directly to the header pipes.....

I already have Two Brothers on there and there is nothing wrong with it and they truly are awesome. But there is just this crazy effin idea in my head for some reason. The carbon fiber look of the Akrapovics and the fact that I keep seeing them on most WSBKs. I think I am brainwashed :p
