Last April I lost my job. Shitty economy and my company closed down. I was a senior hardware Engineer at a local company. I had a large office great pay, lots of vacation and good benefits.

Unfortunately Rochester was hit hard and there were no jobs in the area. After a few months of looking I decided my wife was in school and working part time so I had to bite the bullet and took a senior technician manager job. It was a huge pay decrease about now making about 40% of what I did before. But I got to keep my house. I did not enjoy the job I was never challenged, fortunately it was a contract position.

Last month I got a call from what is considered the best engineering firm in Rochester. There found my resume on monster and offered me a chance at a one year contract with a full time hire if I do well. I jumped at the chance and updated my resume. After a phone interview I got an in person engineer interview. So I called in sick and went to my 8:45 interview. At 1:30 I left my fiver person interview a little fried in the brain but happy. The next day I was offered the job at a rate of 125% of what I am making now.

So the 2 weeks are in I am happy and I get to do meaningful work helping to save American soldiers lives. Life is good I am gonna be paid well and enjoy my job. I don't think things could get much better.

    I think I need a new VFR1200

Good for you Midas. They say that if you do what makes you happy, then it's not really work. Hopefully this will be that way for you. Good luck in the new job.

Yea but I think she gets lonely and needs a little sister. but she is getting delkavick cans and progressive springs.

Mostly I plan on banking as much as I can to increase my emergency fun a little. But I am going to finally have a chance to do a couple things so I am damn excited. The big thing I am excited about is being able to finally start saving money again and not living month to month.

You must have had a huge burden lifted off your shoulders. Great news. I am fortunate that this turn down in the economy has had little effect on me. All that it did, was to prevent a promotion that did not materialize because the funding was pulled from the project. Maybe next year. But my advise...don't burn any bridges. You never know what the future holds.

    Stay safe.

Good on ya brother, its always good to hear about something good happening. Many of us here know exactly what you were going through, pay cuts are definitely no fun.

i would REALLY be interested to know about those cans when you get them. i have super-trapps on my 750, but am thinking about getting one of the delkevik for my 800. i wish there were as cheap as they were last spring. there were about $120 then, but it seems now they are closer to a buck and a half.

^^ I will let you know

Good news just go the drug test and background check I am clear to start. I had no doubts because I would not throw away a chance like this for drugs but there is always a false positive.
