I'm still a fairly new rider but am at the point where I want to take corners harder and try out stuff like a simple wheelie. A guy who fixed my fork seals said it was impossible on this bike. Is this correct? I read only in one place online that said a carb syncing fixed this innability. Does that sound right and if so how do you sync the carbs on this v4?

In it's stock form I would say the bike is NOT capable of wheelies. You could however adjust the gearing by adding a larger sprocket on the rear to give it more low end power which would make the front easier to get up. The downside is that you will take away from your top speed in addition to running higher RPM's at highway cruising speeds. I'm not sure I would want to learn how to wheelie on a bike like that miniceptor since parts are very difficult to find if it is wrecked .

I have thought about the gearing aspect, however, are there any other performance upgrades that anyone knows of to push out a little more power from the bike?

Mine will lift the front wheel in 1st and 2nd easy but not enough to hold a good wheelie

Haha, If it breaks Ill be sad for awhile an then fix it... most things on this bike can be fixed/ replaced with alittle elbow grease an alotta money!!
RIDE IT! Thats what it was made for!! These things are much better off on the street than in showrooms, although they belong in both...

I had an 86 vf500 Interceptor and it would not only wheelie, it would also do a stoppie, the 1st bike I'd ever had that would do that(stoppie). You can clutch almost any bike to do a wheelie, with the possible exception of a Harley. I bought that 86 for $300.00, with just 400 miles on the clock, plastic was busted up and the front forks were bent, but another $300 or so and I had it straightened, plastic welded, and rattle canned it pure red.... then rode it for years, used it as a loaner (for my freinds and my brother in law) on group rides. Always loved that "little" 'ceptor, but sold it to a workmate for $1500.00. Funny thing....... when my kids came over and I showed them my new to me red VFR800, they all said "that looks like the red Honda you used to have". What can you say to that........"yeah but with 13 years newer technology" ( 3 girls, pretty much bike clueless, 1 son 22 years old, he just want's to ride it). Side note, today is forcast to be 45 degrees and sunny........and it's my day off, thing I feel my 2nd ride of the year coming on..... I'm thinking all VFR today, sorry ZRX!!!!!!

I would suggest learning to ride a wheelie on a dirt bike first, they lend to being looped better that street bikes do.

You can wheelie just about any bike if you know how to launch it. Set back a little farther than normal on the seat, legs splayed rearward. Rev to 7000 and let clutch out quickly while twisting the throttle to WFO. That should get the front up. Try that and let us know how you make out. You may have to start at 8000 if that doesn't work.

i've only been able to get the front tire of mine off the ground a few inches at best, the brakes suckon these older bikes i don't know how you got it to do a stoppie, being a new rider just take slowly it sounds like your moving alittle to quickly as some of us have seen that can go bad in a hurry

Not to step on any Toes, Cutter. He just asked how to wheelie. Not how to land! I'd like to see the pictures too!

YES!!!! I agree, learn on a much cheaper to fix dirtbike then as you get comfy with it on dirt start trying it on the street, there are a lot of differences between the two but the general concept and balance is the same.

AND make sure you have good tires!!!! Old hard tires or tires with low tread are just begging to spin....

    :crazy::frusty:

IT'S recurring foolishness: new rider, first post "How do i wheelie"==SQUID !!!

you'll hurt yourself, kid, by horsing around like that !!

i guess you bought the bike so you'd be COOL, but now think you'd need to wheelie to be REALLY COOL, right ?? Or because that 10 year old kid down the block wants you to do one ??

    Learn to ride first !!

there had to be a time when you where a new rider right? some people just have to learn...give the kid a break don't hammer him into the ground for asking how to wheelie, we all where there at one point in time

I don't count 6-8" off the ground as a wheelie. I've found that people who don't do wheelies much, or have a bike that can't do it, will say it feels like their wheel is 2 or 3 feet off the ground when it's really only a couple of inches. I tried so many times with only a few pops of the front tire. Now I leave doing wheelies for when I ride my twins. Those are real wheelie machines.

Yes, but what is not foolishness is to put S-man on your ignore list. That way you would have never seen his post in the first place!
