MotorCyclist raves about it too in their new issue. A few highlights:

it will smoke a K1300S in the twisties

    the seat is perfect

it feels like it loses 120lbs once it gets under way

It will do 210 miles with a careful throttle hand.

Surprisingly, they found the gearbox to be too notchy... a complaint I haven't read anywhere else, but they said it could be just their pre-production test bike behaving this way.

They also complained of driveline lash. First I've heard that too.

Notchy shifts and driveline slack sound like the results of a test bike being flogged relentlessly. We shall see as one of our VFRW members has a new one as well..............

CW had nothing but praise for the shifting and said drive line lash overall was very well-managed; especially powering out of turns. I think people too quickly hastened to criticize Honda for this model; they are not perfect but they do have some of the best engineering minds in the transportation world and it shows in their ability to consistently produce cutting-edge and reliable technology.

Personally, I'm tired of reviews that say, "feels lighter underway" or "loses 120 lbs....) Every single cycle behaves that way. It is magazine/advertiser-speak for, "It is really heavy, but we are not allowed to print real criticism unless it is made in China or a company too small to have an advertising budget"
Weight is not a dealbreaker for me, but it is important. Modern Goldwings are a dream to me. Primarily because the weight is just not something I could live with.
Whatever. The issue that bugs me is not weight. It is the hypocrisy and equivocating of reviews.

Personally, Im tired of moto journalists saying that every bike is great. But I guess it cant be that bad if CW has had 2 recent covers both with the VFR.
In any case, I gave it a shot, just cant get myself to like the VFR, but I like what it offers (minus range)
When the time comes to replace my 02, it will be with BMW K1300S (used of course)
Pipedream - Honda CBR V4 1000cc superbike that can outdo RSV4.

Ditto, A VFR should have "RC" roots

Not too many complaints from the peanut gallery when VFR's were "bike of the year" in most of the world press.

Not all mags make Hondas or any other bikes sound like canned chickenbacks with gravy. Check out some of the Brit press. Or even check out the French press. The French don't agree with anyone, even themselves..

"Those who do not know thier history are not going to make it past the first exam".

    My MIL said that.

Gotta laugh about what smokes what. Last summer I was on about a hundred miler with 70 year old Reg Pridmore. Reg was packin double and on a nice shiny 800 VFR. There were some "fast guys" present. Yeah right..

Sort of like the dude who once beat Carl Fogarty on a Harley. Carl was riding a bicycle..
