Armored Motorcycle Jacket & Other Motorcycle Gear

While searching for suits on fleabay, I found these guys (click link). They have suits, gloves, armor, etc. Im looking to do track days starting this year. Now, Im on a budget and a Dainese or AlpineStars is way out of range.

So, anyone have any of these goods, tried, heard about? Have an opinion? Advice?

I looked at some Frank Thomas suits and wasnt impressed for the price of what you get.

    TIA for your help.

I bought this two years ago:

MOTORCYCLE SPEED RACING ARMOR LEATHER JACKET Green

The quality is OK. But for the price it's pretty good.

I ended up getting another jacket when I sold my Ninja. The armor in the jacket just didn't quite fit my body dimensions.

    Hey Kobe:

My buddy Jeff and I have Frank Thomas suits and I'd say for what you pay they are pretty good.

Also, I don't know who you are doing track days with but if you become a member of NESBA thay sell Technic Violator and Chicane suits at very low prices AND if you don't care about colors thay have some suits that were rentals (worn once, maybe twice for under 300 bucks).

    Can't beat those prices.

Kobe, I am worried about the prices on that site.
I mean, seriously. Is one of the arms on the jacket gonna be longer then the other one?
If the suits on that site are righteous, then the prices are amazing! I am gonna google around ( I have time its my day off ) and see if I can find sme reviews.
    cheers.

Edit: I just saw chuckie's post was from the same site. Didn't realize his link led back to the same store. Stll gonna google it tho.

    No problem brother.

I looked at the site you posted and I might wear one of those suits on the street, but NOT the track.

You want to be careful how 'cheap' you go on protective gear. The deals NESBA has sometimes are awesome for the quality.

A friend of ours went down at around 60-70 mph and he had a knockoff suit and the stiching blew out. He was unhurt but it was a lession we all learned from.

    Peace,

    BZ

So this is just knock off crap then, Bubba?
Paying for a brand name is farcity of course, but it sounds like you are pointing us in a good direction.
    Pointing google at nesba.
( just for kobe, I am going to have the suit that crustyrider gave me altered to fit...cant pass it up, no matter what the cost. )

    Cundalini:

I should clarify a bit more.

Kobe stated he was looking to do track days and needs the safety gear. If you become a member of NESBA, which is 75.00 bucks a year, NESBA sells riding suits and they often have some really good deals at the end of the year OR if you e-mail them as a member and inquire about rental suits that have been ‘gently’ used and you luck out with one on your size you can score a Technic suit at a great price. You might not like the color but the price will make you not care.

As far as the 200 dollar suits shown on that site Kobe posted up. If that is all you can afford for the street then they are better than jeans that’s for sure. But for track riding I would not go that cheap. And even with use on the street I bet they wear out quick (i.e. stitching comes loose or weak, etc.)

Good for 'budget' street riding, not good for budget track riding.

It’s like anything in life. Cheaper is not always better.

Another thing about trackday suits that Tori and I were discussing the other day is whether a two piece will protect you as well. Some track day groups wont even allow a zip together two piece, and on out track day at willow springs we did notice a guy marching around half the day with his suit peeled down to allow his road rash to get air. He wouldn't even wear a shirt cause it hurt too much. Needless to say it made me reconsider wearing my two piece instead of using my antique one piece. But since my one piece is a Hellimot, I am fond of it, even if I do look like a power ranger...

This size options for their stuff is really slim (the jackets4bikes site). I couldn't find a one piece in my size, and only one of the 2 piece suits had my size...

I fought with this company and PayPal last year to get my money back when they sold me a counterfeit Joe Rocket jacket. I even got Joe Rocket involved. Nice to see they are at least not using trademarks anymore.

They used Joe Rocket images in the eBay auction. The jacket was of such poor quality. It was totally unsafe for the purpose it was purchased for. The armour was not CE (as advertised)...yadda yadda yadda....

www.trackskinz.com has had really good reviews. The owner Wayne was very helpful and appears to be very service oriented. He even works exchanges for size issues.

I ordered a one piece suit, gloves and back protector today. I will report back with my impression of look and feel. I am hopeful not to be testing crash durability.

there are guys that sell joe rocket (I got a GPX from them) on ebay listing "buy it now" prices @ retail, and then have a "make offer" buttom. Offer about 2/3 of the retail price and it's yours. I got a brand new Joe Rocket GPX from them 2 years ago for $488 shipped!

I checked my receipts and their email address(es) are:
    kevin.performancemoto@gmail.com, chads@performancemoto.com
