Hey guys. I just picked this VFR up yesterday and am looking to do a resto on it. Can you tell me what it is? It's an 86 700 of course, but is it F1 or F2? It's been painted and the seat recovered and the guy I bought it from says F2. But I thought the F2's had a different gauge cluster and black engines? I'm thinking F1 made to look like an F2? Or am I way off base?

Love the site by the way, I've been reading a lot. And one million dollars goes to the first person to guess what the other motorcycle in the picture is!

(one million dollars is a joke by the way)

That's a good question. Hopefully someone will chime in with your answer.
    I thought the F1 & F2 were for the CBR's. Guess not.
As for the "other bike" in your photo, that would be a Buell 1125r.

That is an F1, born with RWB paint.

Yes, it's an " F" model: note that Honda did not designate it as "F1"

How many miles on her, and how does it run ??

Mind saying what you paid??? We all like to keep an eye on the going market prices.

    Good luck!

Are the engine cases painted silver? That's too bad if they are. Really liked the 86 color.

definitely an F model, but seemingly a very decent example of one. regardless of the fact that a previous owner painted it, it still looks like a good bike,

Yeah I was finding it hard to pinpoint what it was exactly. Then I took body panels off of it last night and saw the edges of the red and blue decals underneath the pearl paint. It's going back to rwb. I think I picked it up for a pretty good price. The engine was just gone thru and the carbs worked on. picked it up for 1500 bucks.

I wonder if you can get that pearl paint off with some rubbing compound.

Not rubbing compound, but I do have some stripper that I use on guitars. If it doesn't work it's getting re-painted anyway.
