    Hello all,
This is my first posting to this site. I recently became the owner of a VFR 800 VTECH. Problem I have is trying to find out with absolute certainy what generation mine is.

    What I do know...
    From the VIN - JH2RC46A
    Log book says VFR800-2

Machine has a twin under seat exhaust system and the machine was first registered in the UK in december 2001.

Some internet research I have done has suggested it is a VFR800 A2 but it looks like this model wan't release until 2002

Can anyone tell me? (I have attached a couple of photos)

    Thanks
    Steve

That is defanitely a 6th Gen (2002+) unless someone has put in alot of work to modify a 5th Gen with 6th Gen bodywork and exhaust. Does the sticker on the left side frame not show the year model?

    Thanks Rollin,

Even though the machine was registered in Dec 2001? Would that make it a VFR800 A2 ?
There is no sticker on frame left hand side.

I'm almost positive that the bike is a 2002 model. BTW....2002-2005 models had amber colored front and rear turn signal lenses

Congats to you and welcome aboard btw!

You may also want to check with your local Honda dealer to find out if Honda issued a recall for the wiring harness like they did here in U.S. for the years 2002-2005

    Howdy sspike,

I can see the plate on the frame in both of the pics that you posted. If you read it it will tell you the model year. If there is a punch mark after the VIN on that plate, then the electrical recall has been done. If not, take it back to your dealer, parts and labor should be free.
There are a lot of good folks here, and some are really knowledgeable! Welcome.

    Hello Mac,

Can you elaborate on that recall. I have a 2004 VFR 800 non-ABS and I'm the second owner. Is this the recall for the main wiring harness? Does it apply to me? Thanks.
