I had a flood last fall at my property in WI. Water ran for 4 days from the toilet, over $6grand in damage. I gotta say, at least in my case, dealing with homeowners insurance is amazing compared to auto or health insurance. I'm sure it'll work out, glad everyone is ok! Hope you get back on the road soon man!

Wayne - a fire is never a good thing. As everyone else has stated, glad to hear that everyone is fine. It would be better if your bike was totaled. Not to mention the gremlins that would appear, the smell would never leave. What a craptacular way to start the weekend.

HOLY! SHIT! man thought it was a joke of sorts seeing all those cans. Man sorry to see this, yet very happy to hear life's were not lost. Bummer of the next to worse kind, yea I bet it's a total loss, I'd also like to believe your insurance has a clause for a weird fire accident, Hmm wonder if they will go after the power company? to get out of the loss. I'd like to believe they should cover the cost of replacing the bike. I take it you have lots of photos of it before the fire for proof just how good of shape it was in. also think this would fall under home owners, not the bikes coverage. Sure wish you the best here.

SS. By all means, the family is first, home second and the toys are part of the rest. Settle down some first and take stock of where you are. Everything will work out, maybe a bit different than before, but I believe just as well. You will look back on this as being one of lifes moments.albeit a big one.

Stay safe and My best to you and your loved ones

Thank you all for the kind words. Well the insurance looks at the bike tomorrow so i won't know anything until then. I spent the whole day today going through the garage with the Serve-Pro people seeing what can be salvaged. All indications are that the garage will have to be rebuilt completely. Too many of the support beams in the ceiling are burnt and crumbling. We saw today that it's completely the power companies issue that caused the fire. Here's hoping for a miracle on them paying for everything.

As for the bike, I really want to rebuild it so if I had to replace the wiring harness and a few parts, I'd be worth it to me. Right now my quick estimate puts the parts to rebuild the bike less that what the bike is worth (blue book trade in value) and less than what I owe. If a couple of parts still have that "burnt look" I won't mind until the power company check comes in.

Hopefully we'll get the power in the house turned back on this week because living out of a hotel sucks major donkey do-do. I'm feeling better day since the CB750 wasn't damaged as bad as I thought. It won't take much to get that back in road worthy condition. I'll report more late after tomorrow's inspection. thanks again for all your well wishes.

Well I got a second look at the bike since they towed it away Friday afternoon. I met the insurance adjuster and we looked over the bike. It really didn't look too bad and my best dream came true when we turned the key and tagged the starter button. After a little puff of black smoke (ash) from the exhaust the bike came to life and settled into an old familiar idle! I'll get the full details tomorrow on whether they will pay for the repair or total it. It looks like repair is in the cards! More later, wish me luck!
