Hey guys, brand new to your forum. Just started looking at your incredible VFR. I'm a cruiser now but sports touring wannabe. I found this 2004 model on my local CL. I'm assuming that 25k is not a lot of miles for this bike? If the photos are current, looks like he takes great care of it. According to NADA, the price is well below ave. retail. What do you think? Thanks in advance...

I can't find the link to the bike you are asking about, but I bought my 98 with 35000 miles on it and it has over 70000 now so, no 25000 is not much... Prices are pretty reasonable now but I don't know how much the one you are looking at is, but I have heard of new on the floor bikes going for less than 8k OTD now.

25K miles is nothing for a VFR. Hell mine has 42K miles and it's still going strong! Some people have gotten them up to 100K. The price is good considering you get the hard bags, they cost a lot separate, about 1 grand. If I were you I'd get it!

Ask if that is the original paint. It looks like flat black and I thought that black wasn't offered until last year. I could be wrong, but you might want to look into it.

04 was the year for flat black in the US. It looks like a nice bike IMO.

Thanks for the clarification Jason. I agree, the bike looks like it is in nice shape. Since he's the original owner, you may want to ask him about the service history - oil changes, etc.

It's not a 5th but is a great deal. Looks ready to tour. Maybe some Helibars, and your there.

Buy it! If you dont like it, You can get near 5k come summer time.

Thanks for all your responses guys. Yeah, I realized that 2004 is a 6th gen. I'm trying to learn the lingo and a little bit about these awesome looking bikes. Maybe a possible deal killer. I'm only 5'7" with a 30" inseam. Any of you that small and ride this bike? I'm arranging for a look see this friday...excited to say the least.

He said yes, original paint. What are "helibars" that someone referenced? I'm older (48) and actually would prefer a more upright riding position if helibars are more for performance.

Heli bars are aftermarket bar that get you more upright without messing up the weight balance of the bike. You can get aftermarket seats than will lower you by 2 inchs.

You really need to just buy the bike! It's cheap enough that if it gets away, you'll be kicking yourself. And it could take many months if at all, to find as good of a deal. I would not wait til Friday.

    I'm 5.9 with a 31" and have no issues.

Thanks for the info...what online sites are most popular here for aftermarket stuff for the VFR? Just wondering what a set of heli bars and a lower seat would cost...

There not cheap. But they come up on CL very often. New cost is near $700. Bars are over priced at $279. and seats run from $250~$400.

If you buy this bike, you may never go back to anything else. The VFR is the perfect balance of sport and tour. It really is a Fantastic bike! I've owned over 30 motorcycles over the last 36 years, My VFR is the only bike I've ever owned, that I feel I'll never sell.

Not a bad price if you are pretty sure about the guy. I like the flat black paint, but those side decals are not from that bike. I think someone added those. That was the only thing that made me nervous about if it had been down. Even if it had been down, though, the price isn't bad. My bike had 'never been down' according to the guy I bought it from but in the course of many tear downs for misc stuff, I found out that it had ad least once because the headlight mount was broken and you could see where there was an attempt to fix it. There is pretty much no way to break that without hitting something. Regardless, the bike looks good and will serve you well. Keep lurking around here, and you'll find all the goodies you need to add... (or want I should say, the vfr doesn't need much)

Oh, and should I talk to you about this pain in my molar?

Thanks Dude! I think I'm going to get to check it out on Friday. The guy said the photos are recent, and so if that's true it looks like the bike is very clean and the chain especially looks nice and clean (a good indicator in my book if someone cares for their bike) for having 25k miles. He also says in his post that the rubber is new.

About that molar...do have anything to trade that I could put on my new bike?
