Got a great offer on a 08 VFR. Yamaha guy, reformed dirt junkie, currently own FZ6 and Vstar. Nowadays just a commuter or a Sunday driver. I never see a track. Occasionally will scrape a peg. Tell me, in the real world, what's so great about your Interceptor??

You might as well ask me to convince you to get a tattoo.

If you have the opportunity to ride the 2008 take it! If the bike is for you it will sell itself! I can't imagine you being disappointed. Nothing talks better than satisfying yourself! Good luck! Oh by the way, I think they are well found!

Other than all of the awards the VFR has won and it's status as "best all around motorcycle money can buy", I can't think of much. Except to say that if you want practicality, the VFR is widely regarded as the best "real world sportbike" ever made. As one magazine put it, " it may not be the fastest, or the lightest, or the cheapest, or the quickest... it's just the best". They do it all and allow for twistie exploration far from your front door, all while never feeling like you've had a 2x4 strapped to your ass all day. High mileage (there are many examples of 100,000+ miles), an extraordinarly low number of catastrophic mechanical failures, and a unique V4 growl, amongst other attributes... made an easy decision for most of us.

You can't go wrong with that bike, and there are killer deals out there on them now. It does everything pretty well. How many bikes can you put bags on for a weekend, and take them off for a track day lol? Jack of all trades and master of none. I'd need to buy a garage full of bikes to cover what I really want, which is not an option...so the VFR stays and covers all my bases with one bike.

I use it as my commuter bike during the week. We have a pretty good group of VFR guys around me that gets together and rides fairly often. In addition to the VFR's, we gone with everything from a 250 supermoto to a ZX14, so it's a pretty diverse group. The VFR is perfect for a ride through the twisties, just slabbing up the highway (although boring), weekend with the GF, even track days. Haven't done a track day yet...well, not on an actual track that is ). I've done 2 up, no sweat. It's not a Goldwing, it's not a CBR. But it can hang on a ride with both and blend right in. Not many bikes can pull off what it does.

I say test ride it, buy it, ride the piss out of it. You'll love it.

It just does everything a road rider could ever want or need. Even shame alot of pure sportsbikes on rough and broken roads. And they have that V4 sound.

Mine gets used mainly for commuting about 330Km a day and the occassional spirited ride. In pretty much all conditions. It definitely lives up to the best real world sportsbike tag. reasonable on fuel, quick enough, handles well, comfortable, reliable, etc, etc. AND it's one of the few bikes on the market that have side mounted radiators. Radiators mounted 1 inch off of the front wheel like most modern bikes are very vulnerable.

    This is why a VFR...

The VFR is an awesome bike. Torque is awesome for a sporty bike. The VFR pulls well at 2000 rpm, although you can feel the huge boost at 5000 rpm. Stable handling, but quick!! It is so powerful. Love the brakes. You gotta get one!

The VFR chooses it's owner, not the other way around. If she didn't say buy me now or else she doesn't want you.

I have recommened things only to have people complain that it (whatever) wasn't that good so I do not recommend things as a rule; the VFR does not need my help anyway.

I know the answer to the overalls question, dont wear them while riding your motorcycle, they arent any protection in a crash, and the wind blows down the bib part and makes your nads all cold. Plus you look like a tard.
