VFRW 2010 Kootenay Tour "The Best of BC"

It's a long way off, but put me down as a maybe. I would probably say goodbye in lytton and head for home over the Duffy lake Road. I've been whining that I don't ride enough and my reg crew have more distractions these days so this might be just the thing! Keep me posted. How do you normaly deal with the hotel costs? I'm assuming the pace will be brisk and safe not fast and stupid? Meeting place and time in Abby on the 17th?

 

Maybe is a word that usually means "fuggen A Buddy" So you might as well committ right now. Think positive. As far as the ride goes, there should be a reasonable mix of those who are spirited and those who like to smell the flowers. Hotel cost will be split down the middle if shared accomodation. If you want your own room because Jasonsmith snores too loud, then you will pick up the tab.

 

I wont be able to do the US side of the tour ( timming and location gets in the way) but for the trip up the 3 to kamloops ill join in, I have family in enderby (1hr away from kamloops) and was thinking of the duffy down to vancouver. Never know might just tag along.

 

That's cool Zen, just let us know closer to where and when you wanna meet us so we know to wait for you.

 

Enderby is not that big. I have great friends there. Morgan is their last name.

 

I am a maybe to highly likely for this ride. I toured BC in 2008 and have been itching to get back out there.

Anything that includes Highway 31A is worth riding 1000 miles for!

It looks as though the Triumph boys are also headed to Nelson on the 17th and the rooms are almost all booked up. There is currently one room left that is reserved under "VFR WORLD", two of you need to get together, pair up, call Sandy at (1-888-722-2258) and put your names on them. Make sure you quote VFR WORLD. If you want a room to yourself there are a bunch of Hostel rooms still available. They are checking to see if there are any more regular rooms that they can scrounge up for us. I will find out tonight.

So the New Grand Hotel is NOT going to honor our reservations and have said straight out that the Triumph group is taking our rooms. They state they had a "new guy" in there who should not have made the reservation in the first place. This clearly doesn't make me happy, it actually quite PMO. With all the logistics involved in trying to bring a bunch of guys together I never would have thought in million years that I/we would be let down by the hotel! Sure would have been nice if they figured that out a week after making the reservation rather than 2 months after!!

So now were left to re-route and find a different place to stay.

Needless to say anyone who made a reservation with them consider it canceled.

I called them and apparently they are wide open. BCAA rate is $152 standard view. group rates start @ ten rooms or more. I'll leave it with you guys the organizers. Did I mention the hot springs?

 

Thanks for that, I am looking at that one but, big but, it's 45 further north for us to only come south that 45 the next day. So adding 45min to our long day 1 may not be so great plus adding an unnecessary 45min on day 2 isn't that great either. If that place was in Nelson it would be a go for sure.

 

45min? I don't recall it being that far...but with the promise of a soak the hot springs it might be just fine...the call is yours! Isn't Ainsworth right on the road of travel for day 2?

 

Pat from the hotel says it's 45min so I have no idea, was trusting her, I trust living there she has driven the route more than we can imagine. She told me Kaslo is 20 min up the road... Sounds like you really like it, is it that good?
