Got a Staintune!

    I would never buy one of these suckers at $400.~$600. but $250. off Ebay I can handle.

    It's louder than my Delkevic:biggrin:

    They share the same type of design(glass pack style), but the Delkevic seems to use glass and I believe the Staintune uses a steel wool type packing.

    I'm only guessing. It the past on my RX3SP it would burn out a glass pack in about 5 weeks, so I had to go to a steelwool pack.

    The sound was much different from glass to steel. This is the type of sound difference I hear between the Delkevic and Staintune.

    The high mount looks sweet!

    I constantly watch Ebay for a Staintune for my bike. What was your trick for finding it? I have alerts set to email me when an ad is placed that contains the words VFR and Staintune..... hmmmmm maybe the alert is no longer working.....

    Awesome find though - I'm dying for one of those!!!

    I think your Staintune uses stainless solid baffle internals. There is no packing to deal with - a great feature.

    yours seems to be missing the small puck to baffle .....it keeps them a bit quieter....a great pipe and a super price..

    Stop spreading the lie! There's no baffles in a Staintune! It's just packed with spun coarse SS wool.

    I've got the little thingy, but I could not hear the exhaust and had to remove it! Now I can hear the music.

    Me too, I got the notice from Ebay and watched all week. No one bid and I payed the starting bid of $225. + $20 for shipping.

    If you could find the some packing material that Staintune uses, and repack a Delkevic, you may get a deeper better sound than the tune, because the Delkevic is a larger can.

    I've been hunting as well. looks like they do exist. I have one on my 98 & was looking for one for my Y2k. It looks really good on yours.
    I figure a Staintune & then aluminum wheels & I'll be done monkeying with the looks. Well maybe a different wind screen.........and a GPS.
    and an Autocom & 2-way. Maybe a Valentine.
    Valve stems.

    Trim up the rear fender.



    Hugger.







    some fancy brake lights.

    Oh....a throttle lock - gotta get a throttle lock.



    maybe de-dumbo...but geeze the Y2k paint is tough to match........

    Love my Staintunes. Hated the instructions: Assemble tools. Clean working area.Place bike on centerstand. Remove old muffler. Install by reversing removal procedure. Stupid. Should have parts list, tool list, mounting method (grabrail mounting bolts w/ spacer provided for opposite side). Required OEM parts; forward muffler mount w/ bolt and spacer (missing when I took off the Micron can. Nut not required). I know it's not rocket science but it would have saved staring at it for awhile mumbling about where this goes... I like riding, not wrenching.

    RE: Staintune's on the 5th gens with o2 sensor and catalytic converters...
    Staintunes are slip on's and install after both the o2 and cat, right?

    I found a high mount on ebay a few years ago. I couldn't use it with the Givi E360 panniers, so I sold it here. I looked for several months for a low mount, but ended up buying new from Staintune. With a favorable exchange rate, even with shipping it wasn't too bad.

    I sold the high mount to a fellow on the forum
