The wife picked me up a new HJC CL-15 helmet and this Shark Bluetooth headset:
Motorcycle Skiing Bluetooth wireless headset any helmet

I've had limited oppertunity to test it so far. My problem was that in order to ride my bike for work, I needed to be able to answer phone calls. Volume is very good with the system. The photos below only show one speaker but the second one runs thru the headliner and is attached on the other side as well. The wife said I sound like a pilot when I'm driving and talking. She said she couldn't hear any wind noise or engine noise. We'll see what happens with the Shadow and the Vance/Hines pipes.

More to come later, I'm short on time right now. Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Here is the helmet with the receiver attached. Everything attaches with sticky backed velcro pads that are provided with the system.

Lefthand side installed in the helmet. Same velcro system for attaching and removal.

Microphone location. my lips barely kiss the foam cover which is exactly per instructions.

Cheek pad reinstalled and cable routed between padding to the receiver.

so, our token canadian was kind enough to point out that my fancy ass helmet wasn't equiped with a breath box. Thanks for that - jerk. So off to the store and drop another $10bucks. I rode half the winter around in an open face MX helmet so my face is already tougher than leather and I don't really NEED a breath box like some woosies. However, I can't have a product and not have all the accessories, maybe I'm just a little materialistic like that...

Anyway, the breath box does present some challenges for microphone location. I have tried positioning the microphone between the breath box and the cheek pad. The concern will be in how muffled my voice sounds to whomever I'm speaking with. If that doesn't work, I'll have to cut a notch in the box to route the microphone thru. After testing, I'll include some photos, probably not until some time next week.

Thanks for the post, good info. I am interested in bluetooth for my J&M radio but I am on hold because I am not convinced the technology is "settled".

I have some midland 2 ways. Do you know if you can use the system with the two ways and still use the music and phone capabilities without having to buy a control unit like an autocom system.

I don't know. I use it for the phone & the music. I read that you can hook up 2-ways to the BT2 but I don't know what you need or how it all works. I can see if I have my book.

This is from Midlands site. http://www.midlandradio.com/Resource_/OwnerManual/151/BT2S-Owners-Manual.pdf
Using a Two Way Radio transceiver
To be able to use the transceiver, it is necessary to purchase
a specific cable (sold separately) in order to connect the radio
    to your Midland BT2:
    http://www.midlandradio.com/Bluetooth-Intercom-Systems-Accessories.FIC/BTA-302
› Note: Some manufacturers radios use a different pin
configuration, so we recommend that you ask your
dealer as to which cable is best suited to your needs
To communicate via the attached radio, press the transmission
Press to Talk (PTT) button to speak and release it to listen.
It is not possible to talk and listen simultaneously. The
cable connected to the transceiver has a PTT button that can
be placed on the handlebar of your bike or held in your hand
(If you are the Passenger rider).
Adjust the volume of the transceiver to your needs, remembering
that the volume adjustment is controlled by the automatic
AGC system and that it will therefore be automatically increased
    in relation to background noise.
    Special configurations
Your Midland BT2 can be configured with customized settings

I'm using the J&M Bluetooth Headset. Making the needed cuts to fit the speakers and mic are a pain but once done, the fit is flawless, the sound excellent and cell calls at 80+ are crisp and clear...

I use a Scala Rider Q2. Absolutely amazing for placing and receiving cell calls. Check out my photo gallery and you will see that I wear an RKT-101 helmet which is not the quietest lid on the market yet people I talk to on the phone cannot believe I'm on a bike. I only have a Garmin Nuvi 350 which is not Bluetooth but here's the cool bit...the Scala Rider Q2 has a built-in FM radio. I purchased a Belkin Tunecast Universal FM transmitter so I can hear the GPS. My Nuvi also plays MP3's so I can listen to music and the GPS unit will "interrupt" my music to give me directions. In addition to that, the Scala Rider Q2 will "interrupt" my GPS/music or any other FM station I'm listening to and give priority to the cell phone.

Everything is in my Rapid Transit Recon 19 tank bag which I also recommend.

The Scala unit easily detaches from the helmet for charging. It also comes with a neoprene pouch to protect it. The unit is totally waterproof...I can attest to that. My only knock is that it is not stereo...no biggie!

I got to use a Q2 when riding with a friend over the summer... I was blown away by the clarity and function of the unit... it's just a little expensive..

I totally agree with your price comment. I "sharked" mine on ebay. I can't remember what I paid but I got a good deal.

Several countries have banned cell calls while driving, some states have followed suit. IMO BSing on a cell is just as foolish and dangerous as when done in a cage. Then again, I don't have the riding skills of anybody famous.

I don't converse while riding, but I do like to be able to look at my GPS screen to see who's calling so I can decide whether or not I want to stop and return the call.

I have a chatterbox. I can listen to my phone (has GPS, MP3, and of course a phone). I have only talked twice while riding and it is clear all the way up to 85 mph. I dont answer my phone while riding but if the phone rings it shuts off my music and a ringing tone is heard. That gives me a chance to glance at the phone and decide if the call is worth stopping for. (phone is in my tankbag with the clear pocket on top. I am also a contract worker so it is important for me to answer a call or respond very quickly to jobs that I am called on) I wont ride with the chatterbox on or connected if I am going for my spirited rides but on my long 1- 2+ hours on interstate rides I will. It has a battery life of at least 4 hours with music so that is a plus. I also have a Shoei r1000 helmet that helps eleminate a lot of road noise and whistleing thru the helmet. Hope this helps out.

I like to listen to my music. 95% of the time I don't answer the call unless its my daughter. I put the phone in the clear part of the tank bag so I can see who's calling.

I know that nobody ever BS'es on cells while riding just like nobody ever parks in handicapped spaces at WalMart without some sort of caveat.
