V4 collector from the north

    After some reading and posting, time to introduce myself (and my rides). This site is wonderful. I though it was mainly for recent VFRs but would find here all I need for all my V4s.

    Just spent 5 years on 2 vf1000f 84, one after the other. Still owning both but one has a knocking transmission and the other a broken cam chain. I bought the last one $600 for the transmissions and other parts but finally rode it 2 years (after lot of care, for example, this bike had 15 years old tires). Bought a vfr800 '98 in august when I broke the last vf1000f. I plan to build a working engine this winter from the 2 and other heads I have in spare. I want to get it back on the road since the cycle part was at least as good (if not better) than my VFR. I need to convince Jamie to sell me an oiling kit (or its BOM and instructions).

    vf1000f I (pictured):
    -cbr600f2 '94 wheels with Jamie's kit
    -vfr800/a '04 raised rear shock (w/ remote preload) modified by Jamie also
    vf1000f II (pictured before mods, sorry):
    -above mods transferred
    -dropped front (15mm) with racetech gold valve emulator
    -cbr600f2 '94 clipons
    -cbr1000rr '07 front brake and clucth master cylinders and control switches
    -vfr800 '98 (condom style) mirrors with custom bracket

    A never ending project, with the body not painted to match the wheels.

    25 years ago I rode a rd350 '82, seca400 '82, gs550 '83. Came back to biking 5 years ago to save on gaz (that what I told my wife) but found a job 15 min from home by walk the following year. I could no longer justify bike ownership otherwise than for the passion (riding and fixing). Fortunately, I changed job last year and could still justify it for daily commuting (up to -5C at least), hence the vfr800 when the last vf1000f broke. I guess in ten to fifteen years I will ride a 2010 vfr1200, unless my good fortune permits me to ride a Desmosedici RR ;-)

    Nice bikes and nice mods. I really like the 1KF's, parts are so hard to come by though. I had one briefly but now have the 1KR with the F2 front wheel and a 900rr rear wheel, Penske shock, Jaime's oil kilt, etc. Jaime did the wheel mods for me also.

    I could probably put together the parts list for the oil kit from what I know but you might try PM'ing member sebspeed here or on vfrd.com. He put the kit together himself and could probably supply a parts list.

    I will first sort the heads and cams then look for an oiling kit.

    You've got a nice line up of bikes. This site has members, information and support all the back to the 1983 Interceptors. It's a great resource. Welcome to the forum.
