Well, after my accident imposed hiatus, I got back in the saddle and headed over to the gas station just as I had planned a little over a month ago when gravity intervened.

After topping off, I decided to tack Scratch out and stretch her out a bit. I've got to tell you, I was as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs at first, but I settled down after a bit.

We headed out on hwy 41 right close to my house then headed down Templeton Rd.

Then we headed up South El Pomar. The surface was a bit sketchy so I took it pretty easy on the throttle just getting a feel for the old girl again.

The missing mirror throws it off a bit, but one of our friends to the east has informed me that some new mirrors are on the way as I'm typing this.

Here's a good shot of the damaged side. From 15ft or so, it's not too noticeable.

Here's a similar shot to one of the calendar photos showing the seasonal difference in the vineyards around here. A bit different, eh?

Then we took a right on El Pomar and headed a little further into the country. Here are some roller coaster hills.

And here is a nice small green valley. I had to turn around to get the pic after I caught a glimpse of it.

Then we took a right onto Cripple Creek. I always like this old barn. It makes for good pictures...

From there I headed on down to Hwy 41 again and turned back towards home.

After this pic I opened her up a bit and tested the tire sides a bit. A couple times I had to force myself to just relax and ride because I would tense up if I tried to think about it too much. It felt pretty good to get out and ride again, but even that short jaunt had my right shoulder and wrist barking at me a bit.

Thanks to Tori and Stoshmonster for spare parts to help me get back on the road.

You gotta fix that mirror or you will spend the rest of your life riding in circles.

And I hope you had the good sense to celebrate with a worthwhile cigar! Glad everything came back together (you and the bike). Personally, I'm starting to suspect that you just like fixing bikes...

Congratulations. Getting back in the saddle ASAP after a wipe is sometimes easier said than done. I know it takes me a couple hundred miles to get my head on straight after a crash.

Awww, Scratch, it is good to see you back on your feet, dear.
Here's to a continued speedy recovery and many happy miles ahead. Don't let Reg beat you too bad. He's getting older too, ya know.

Welcome back to both of you! at today's reduced pace you would have probably left me in the dust!
    haha!
If mirrors from the east don't pan out, let me know......I was working on resolving the same issue.

I really respect how the members of this forum rally around a fellow rider. As with everyone else, I wish you both a speedy and full recovery.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys. I got to ride to work today for the first time in over a month. A bit chilly this am but well worth it when I slipped through all those little gaps where the cages clog the way.

I have already been talking to him about it. I mentioned it in front of Sarah hoping that maybe she'll want to come, too. Terri gets tired of being the only girl (or the only girl who doesn't ride when Karen comes). I told him to try and spruce up the thread about it and drum up some interest. I'm not sure how many are aware yet. I'm gonna talk to Michael about it again today and see if I can't get him to come in. I know he wants to, it's just a matter of getting him to make it top priority. I think it's gonna be a good time. Jake (my son) is looking forward to it. Maybe he'll have a bike by then.
