Ok...well I am having trouble starting the bike. I thought the battery was the culprit so I swapped it with a known good one...same issue...it cranks for a bit then makes a god awful sound and the starter doesn't want to move...if I leave it for a minute it will start..

I also keep hearing the fuel relay clicking just in front of the fuel pump????

Is this normal to hear when the bike is running..I mean its constant, click, click click, click

I have a new RR installed...Whats next to look at, starter clutch, stator?

    thanks

The clicking is not the fuel pump relay, which is an electronic relay, no coil and contact points.

Instead, the fuel pump clicking constantly suggests either that fuel flow TO the pump is obstructed or that your carbs may be leaking due to a stuck float or leaky bowl gaskets, confirmed by a very strong aroma of fuel.

You might try disconnecting the fuel line just before it goes to carbs and loooking for a good flow of fuel....you'll need to be cranking witrh the starter for this test or useing a wire to bypass the pump relay.

Could be a plugged filter, yes.

Have u checked the interior of your fuel tank with a flashlight to check for rust ??

Drain the entire contents of your tank into a bucket, and look for evidence of rust or water.

It may be a starter clutch given the noise. Pull the clutch cover and try to start. You will need to put your finger on the starter gear to hold it on place but if the clutch has failed you will see the gear spin and the engine will not. Should be very obvious and a simple repair.

Check the archives for a really good how to on w/pix on fixing that starter clutch. Best IMO to tear it down and inspect the entire mechanism. You may need only the hub. When these are toast they generally are cracked. Very visable.

Yep, ya gotta drain the oil.

I am surprised you think of your dealer in such negative terms. They are usually wonderful human beings. LOL..

Dozens of sources for Honda parts on the net. Compare prices and S&H for your best deal.

I would avoid sources like Ebay unless you make damned sure the part if what you need and it is brand new. Even then check prices.. Who knows, your local stealership may be the Ebay vendor..Shit happens..
