Well, I rolled the bike into a vacant room in my finished basement. It is surely appreciating the Berber carpet and heat. I guess I may have perhaps one or two days I could get it out for a short ride, but until then, I will be living vicariously through those down south that can ride. :frown:

Hope you guys post some ride pics in the appropriate area here. Us guys that must deal with the colder weather get a lot of enjoyment reading about your rides.

I'm in the same boat as you. All 4 of my street bikes are in the basement right now. I've been working on the 1000R for a while now and already have the 800 torn down for regular maintenance (tires, plugs, oil, air cleaner, etc). It is a huge benefit to be able to get your bike inside for the winter. I remember in my old house trying to do that in the garage when it was 20 degrees out. I don't ever want to go back to that!

    I hear you brother!

I have my VFRness and R/R to go in this winter. I want to change the brake pads, and fluid as well.

Need to tear down the CBR 954 and figure out if I need to chuck it and find another. It's burning oil...

Has the wife/gf caught you just sitting on the bike, quiet, not doing anything but dreaming? It's happened to me and she questioned my sanity. I was about to rattle off a "b$%#h" but I thought better of it.

my wife caught me just staring at mine. i have a good excuse though, when i was a senior in high school way back in 1987, i was lucky enough to buy a brand new vfr 700f2, the blue one and it was some of the best times ever. well just recently checking craigs list i found a 87 vfr 700f2, blue for 800 dollars. i bought it then cold weather hit ohio. i have had it out a couple times now and amazingly this thing runs like a champ. appears to be stock except for some kirker slip ons (sounds awesome). will need some new body parts. other than that i couldn't be happier. i'm sure to be asking you guys many questions as i go over this bike. anyway thats my excuse for just staring and dreaming

    caught sitting on the bike?

    Guys ,
Worse than that....talking to my bikes.....sure ...as l;ong as they don't talk back I think I'm OK. You know ...hey dude look what I got for you....fresh Mobil 1 10-40......hey a new Honda oil filter and crush washer.....Who Loves ya baby?
Damn where am I gonna dump all that surplus oil......? Well we got a local "Household Hazardous material dump " maintained by the County.....oil, gas, paint
Just catch them the two days a month they are open.....second and last sat of the month...all you got to do is put it in your bed or trunk, ride through sign a waiver its from your house hold and they unload for you.....not bad....but Yeah caught talking to the bikes.....but they appreicate it in a way the wife could never understand.....like when you are winding that VFR up to say 8-9k coming out of a turn or just stretching it out on a desolate piect of tarmac......oh and It was the better part of Valor not to drop the beotch bomb ........the one I got t owatch for and it falls so easily from my mouth to realise I just phuked up "Are you stupid or what?" Havem't done that in a while...but last time it took about two weeks to get over.....WHEW

Wow...Let me see if I can help put "temperate" into perspective. I havn't turned a wheel in over a month due to snow or temperture and when I left for the airport twelve days ago it was -17. Before you ask let me answer: no, that is not with windchill.

Buck up Brother...Cold in NC is a state of mind.

Sorry, just having some fun at the expense of you warm weather guys. I literally have nothing else to do.

On board with you guys. Went for a 20 min. ride Wednesday, first time since Thanksgiving. 41 Degrees and was not very enjoyable.

Was on the phone with a friend of mine the other day and told him I was about to pull the VFR up on the tread mill in the garage and tie the back of it to a post. He told me he would love to see it and volunteered to video it.....

I caught a connection flight out of Dallas a week ago Wed. on the 9th. WTF...I've never felt Dallas so cold. It was like 29 or something.

Forget that Dallas, I just saw that you're from NC too. In my best Forrest Gump..."Dallas, he was from Detroit. Phoenix, he was from Cleveland. Tex, I don't know where he's from."

41 is pretty frigid for that part of the world though.

Those are photos of the North Shore of St. John in the Virgin Islands. The top one is of Trunk Bay. The one with the sailboats is Cinnamon Bay, directly below my old balcony. I sold the house to a friend so I am still able to get out there two or three times a year. I lived there from '99-'04. Yeah, it was tough to leave, but the lifestyle there can get somewhat abusive, so after 5 years it was time. It is a great place, as you can tell most of the island is set aside for wildlife refuge, so only 6000 full time residents and not too much in the way of tourists. There are literally dozens of other islands, belonging to a few differant countries, that are a short boat ride away. Most of them are not very populated/visited either. That paticular beach is not nude. Believe it or not (only a dozen people on it) that is the most visited beach on the island. There are others with with no one on them that allow one to do whatever thoughts may cross a drunken mind.

On the bonus side of this thread, it is supposed to be 60 degrees in Denver today, there will be riding!
