i only have the superhawk now, so its double duty. going into a gravel parking lot about some spirited riding (sticky tires + gravel) probably causes most of it

Jeez Dude - Somebody give you a nasty wedgie today? -- The only thing that matters on what I do to my ride is that I like it! There's zero on the bike that I would say "Why the hell did I do that?" - - - I really dont give a crap if anybody doesnt like something I modded.

Clean that chrome wheel yet?

any guesses on which bike I am faster on @ the track? The answer would surprise you!

even a VFR (a 3rd gen at that) is beyond the capabilities of most riders

    Mods Mods Mods Mods

Heli Bars and MRA windscreen on her when I got her, both very functional for me (and I didn't get the stock ones) so I left em there. Added R&G slider kit cause I'm a short clumsy bastage and I knew I would test them out eventually (yes I have, yes they work!). Got a Seargent seat I guess cause my arse just can't take it (does that automatically make me not gay for the tire hugger??). Also yanked all the other reflectors off her as they looked stooooopid too. I'm not using Honda oil, or filter, does that count as a dumbass mod??

Best mod ever, Stosh used a frame plug to fill that hole in the rear wheel of his, which bugs the shit outta me, I'm gettin one o them:thumbsup:

Don't get me wrong Bubba, I've seen many a dumbass over mod the hell out of a perfectly good a pretty bike to the point of fugly, but he was probably just like me. It's my bike, I don't care if anyone else likes the way she looks or what I've done to her, not their problem.

However, on that note, what's with all the dooooosh bags that remove half of their front brakes (one side caliper and rotor) WTF MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about LCD video screens? I saw this Ninja that had a panel in each side fairing and the rear seat cowl, all hooked into an on board DVD player running a rap video...

I'm OK with mostly minor mods that improve a bike's looks and performance, but some stuff is just ridiculous, like:

-Neon and colored lights (as squirrelman said above)
    -Stretched swingarms
    -Tons of chrome
    -Car tire width rear tires

Nothing says 'garage queen' to me like those mods. If you want to bling out your ride, fine go ahead, but please be sure to actually friggin' ride the bike after that. And just to the bar and back doesn't count.

Also, how ironic that people spend big bucks on mods like that, then so little on proper riding gear. I guess skull- and skin-saving gear doesn't look 'cool'.

Anytime I see a Big 4 cruiser whose decals and/or tank emblems have been removed, I always think it's so the bike will look more like a HD. Maybe it's for looks, but many times I suspect not. They're trying to hide the fact it's NOT a Harley.

You'll notice far fewer sportbike riders remove the labels from their tanks, 'cause most are proud of what bike brand they ride.

I used a Scottoiler when I was a bike courier. If you don't have time/desire for chain maintenance, and let your chain go dry etc, then a correctly adjusted Scottoiler can add a lot more life to the chain, but that is life that the lack of maintenance is shortening. I used to do up to 1000 miles per week, and found that the Scottoiler kept my chain free and smooth over the week. However, unless they are adjusted correctly, they cover the rear wheel and surrounds in oil. And by the way, if you have one, don't use their proprietary oil; use chainsaw bar oil instead. It's the same stuff at about 10% of the Scottoiler price.

Without a doubt, one of the side benefits of a sportbike or even a "sport tourer" is the quick realization that if one doesnt get and stay in some kind of reasonable physical shape you're just not going to enjoy it like it could be.

Crazy diets and what not aside, there is just no substitute for caloric restriction and exercise. Its empirically proven again and again and it works. Ask any MotoGp racer or anyone else that competes. You dont have to compete to enjoy the benefits, and its a real way to take action within the sphere of making you a better rider.

Nuff said.......if youre thinking its a mod you need to make, do it brother.

It's a well made product, but large (at least the touring reservoir version is), and expensive. I haven't even installed it yet after reading all of the chain oiling threads which seem to come to the consensus that it isn't really necessary.
