Hey there. I've got a 2001 with the metal mirrors but I'm thinking of doing the Datel voltmeter install behind the glass, requiring me to swap the mirrors with my CBR600F2 and use mirrors with the rubber boots so that I can hide the wire. Everyone has lots to say about these mirrors but I don't get what the problem is???? On my F2 once per year I had to fold out the mirrors from storage and set the boots in place and if I was carefull they would stay there. Is that the only issue? If there is more I'd like to know about it before I commit to the swap!!!

    Thanks all!

Nothing wrong with the mirror. Many find them ugly compared to the condomless ones.

from the F3 that I had, had the condom mirrors. I gave up trying to keep the condom in place.

I mainly find them ugly, but as a second problem if the mirror stalk wasnt set just right the bottom of the condom would pop off the base. Kinda annoying.

I owned a new 5th Gen and my only complaint with that bike were the mirrors. Exactly what Keager and Mello Dude said - I was constantly having to put them back in place. For such a great bike, the mirrors were an obvious after thought.

Consider trading me your mirrors for my condom ones!

yeah, same as above, I thought they didn't look as nice. Mine would slip a little and the color of the rubber was just a little off from the plastic. Not really noticeable to anyone but me... The y2k mirrors just provided a cleaner look...

    Hey Squamish VFR,

If you want to swap, I have condom mirrors. Been thinking about ordering Y2Ks anyway.

Heck I might even flip a few bucks your way in the deal.

    Best part - I'm practically a neighbor!

Sorry Bud I already have a set of condom mirrors from my '94 CBRF2 I've put them on and plan to stare at it awhile and make a final decision when the Datel Voltmeter gets here. I might yet mount the volt meter in the fairing, haven't decided yet.

Meanwhile if anyone knows of someone who'd like a good CBR600 with a VFR mirror upgrade I've got one for sale!!!

I just changed from condom mirrors to the Y2K mirrors. As stated above,
the bottom of the condom mirrors sometimes does not stay on.

My problem was that one mirror would droop down after going over a Kalifornia bump.

No matter how tight I made it, it still came down.

If you buy the Y2K mirrors be sure to get the attachment bolts and gaskets.
