    Hello everyone,
First let me say thanks for taking a look at my questions and any input you have will be appreciated. I bought a 1985 interceptor vf500

    1. I need to know what type and sized exhaust options I have as its difficult to locate factory in good condition and I would prefer aftermarket.

    2. Are there modern cans that will work on my bike?

    3. Also when it comes to wheels and tires what options sized wise do I have will modern wheels and tire fit.

    4. Does anyone have a suggestion of where I can get a fuel tank as the one I have has a crack that has been fixed improperly with bond and silicone.

Thank you all again and I cant wait to see you on the road. I have a long way to go so the more info the better.

Uriah, Older 1st generation Interceptor parts are somewhat hard to locate. You will have some success here and also over at V4hondabbs.com. That site is dedicated pretty much to first gen. VF's. You can also try this place as they show several fuel tanks - look at item # 9. The tanks are pricey though. House of Honda has been in business for forever. Go to their home page and telephone to be sure they really have them in stock. My 83VF750F came from there new. As far as wheel/tire combos, it is possible to mod using newer wheels but there are no real direct fitments to the VF500. You will not find radial tires in the OEM sizes. I know I have read some who have done that. Try a search here for the subject. I have a few VF500 parts but no fuel tanks. I have seen them come available on E-bay. The VF500F is a sweet bike to ride! Good luck!

Have you tried ebay- some sellers have good lists of exhausts that fit a list of bikes!

Welcome! Please post pics of your bike.

It is very difficult to find Aftermarket exhaust for the VF500's. Keep an eye on Ebay for Hindle and other Aftermarket exhausts being sold. Throwing on different cans will most likely rob your bike of power, and has been said of most Slip ons.
Keep an eye on Ebay and this (and other) VFR boards for people selling stuff.
Is something wrong with your stock exhaust?

You might be able to get something to fit but it's doubtful. People have attached Modern cans to aftermarket systems like the Hindle 4-1.
I guess your exhaust options are:
-Get a full aftermarket exhaust for your VF500
-Get aftermarket Cans for your VF500
    -Keep it stock
-Go entirely custom (may not be worth it)

The tires sizes for the stock wheels are quite limited.

You can get F2 wheels and convert them to work on your bike.

I spent an entire year waiting and searching on EBAY for a good tank....you may have to do the same if no one locally has one.

Make sure you get one that is for a 1985 VF500....people mix up VFR's and VF's on Ebay often. Also a Tank off an 86 VF500 will be different.

    Good luck!

    Hey Uriah,

I just went through the whole tire thing. As you've probably found the stock tires are 100/90-16 in the front, and 110/90-18. I've found the best three "sporty tire" options are Pirelli Sport Demons, Bridgestone BT-45's, and Avon Roadriders. There are other options available, but they aren't as sporty.

The wheels are very thin and very tall. Many people around here have done the F2 mod which allows a greater range of true sportbike tires. There are a ton of threads about getting that done.
