now dont get me wrong here i love my wife.BUT sometimes im really jealous of you that have wives that are just as much into bikes as we are. my wife will occasionally go for a ride with me on my 98 vfr but only if its 85 degrees or higher without a cloud in the sky. that doesnt really bother me all that much because i kind of like riding solo anyhow. but if i try to talk about anything to do with bikes i get that eyes rollin' to the ceiling look and the i wish he would just shut up about that damn bike already. not trying to make this some dr. phil post but anyone else have a non bike wife? (reverse for women) getting ready to buy a rc 51 to go with the vfr and not quite sure how to tell her. have thought of trying to sneak it in to the garage and see how long it takes her to notice. hell she thinks there all the same anyway.

Thats my plan, best to buy and get forgiven than get "talked out of it" in my opinion.

My wife does not ride with me. She doesn't like motorcycles really, but is very tolerant of my passion for them - to a point. She does get sick of hearing about the bike crap sometimes, so I try to take it easy on her.

I wish she would ride with me tho. I think she'd find it exhilarating and the freedom intoxicating. Was looking into buying a cruiser a couple years ago, as she said she'd consider riding pillion on a cruiser, but she later said don't buy one just b/c she said she "might" ride with me. 'Cause she might not, too.

Very frustrating. But then again, I love riding solo, so it's no big deal either. I just wish she could experience motorcycling a few times so she'd understand first-hand how great it is.

I'm blessed that my wife is more of a fanatic then me. We have a blast riding together and she supports me on working on all the bikes I can get my hands on. Not to menton the other silly shit we get into. As for the RC51... better to beg for forgivness than ask for permission.

I have a non-bike wife, too. She will go for a ride with me, but not for a 150-mile-tour.

When I start to wax poetic about motorcycles, the eyes glaze over, and she will change the subject.

I got her to help me clean off a cylinder head one time, but the fumes got to her. That was the last time she helped me in the garage...

It sounds like my wife is typical of what others have described. She's not "into it" but tolerates it quite a bit. She rarely steps foot into my shop but instead chooses to stand at the doorway and peer in. After looking at all of the bikes and equipment in there she usually walks away shaking her head. I would prefer that she spent more time out there with me, but the fact that she allows me so much leeway means a lot to me.

My wife's non-rider also... ever since that crack I made about the rear shock not being able to handle the load :] and do yourself a favor and lie when she asks "Do these jeans make my ass look fat?"
Seriously tho, buy the bike first, tell her later. If you're like me, you work every day.

I have a non-riding wife too. But she knew when we got married the bike thing was part of the package.

She knows I get great pleasure out of riding and knows I am addicted to track days; so we sat down with our budget this past summer and actually each pay period money goes into my 'track day fund'. We even went so far to see if we could afford for me to leave the street altogether and ride the track only, but we can't do that, but its all cool anyway.

My wife and 3 year old son did come to the track with me this past August (as some of you know) and she enjoyed watching and would like to come with again! But she did state she thinks we are all "insane" LOL! She calls track days "Not Racing" becasue we are going as fast as our skill allows and when we pass each other we joke about it, so in her eyes that is racing?

    I am a blessed man.

Man I'm in the same boat as those with the non support bike thing, don't get me wrong she's a great gal, but when it comes to Bikes she really rolls her eyes, she also has this if I spend any funds towards anything bike related, she gets the ideas it's only fair she gets to buy something for her. Hmm crazy how that works, I mean how many shoes can a gal have before it's to much?? This has me keeping things pretty simple, don't go asking for a lot, but when it comes to bikes she knows that's my hot button Now all that said since the big off, she has really voiced here concern when it comes to getting another bike. Once Folks know of what happened, they will ask me if I'm done riding, I say no, so you getting another bike? Before I can answer she jumps in with an affirmative NO!.. LOL guess it's up for debate.. not really, she knows whats what down deep.

My wife is a saint married to a now reformed devil. She's supportive of my riding. When another package comes in the mail, she does on occasion ask if I now have everything I need for my hobby. I usually answer "yes, for now anyway" and she just rolls her eyes.

She has ridden two-up with me a few times and really seems to like it. Says she wants to do more of it. She never complains when I say I'm going for a short ride and says, "have fun, I'll see you in four or five hours or so".

My plan for retirement is to sell most everything except a touring bike and tour the USA, Canada, and Mexico for a couple of years, camping mostly. I'd like her to go with me. Guess I'll have to let her know my plans at some point so she can start getting used to the idea. Not sure what I'll do if she says it's not for her. Maybe I'll just take off for a month at a time several times a year.

I'm 64... divorced when I was 23... Once was enough for me.... Buy what I want, ride when and as long as I want to.... I discovered early on men and woman mostly have a very different view on what we find interesting, as far as conversation/TV/hobbies/friends/money, and when trying to debate a subject, they don't want to talk about it(after they have stated their view point).

They're nice to look at though..... (some of them)

They are our opposites in just about every way possible, but a few of those differences are what makes us pursue them, whether it be a wife, mistress, girlfriend, one-night stand, or whatever. Guys just cannot resist the poontang.

Hey Jay. When you get your new ride, buy her a nice new vaccum cleaner. That should work won't it?

When I got my fiirst, only and present in 2006, it was this way. Dear. I'm getting a bike." She has more money than I do and I paid for it so that's that.

    Bt the way Taylor.....[IMG]

Ditto for me as well... The wife could care less about the bike... The fact that she let me purchase a trailer to allow me to tow the bike behind the "Family Truckster" was quite a feat..

My wife is even less pleased that my 5 year old daughter relates to my love of Bikes and fast cars more than my 7 year old son does....

Umm...It kinda sounds like we're all married to the same woman, how is that possible??? Mine is, well supportive, more than I thought she'd be. I have taken her to the WSBK race this year at Nurburgring, and she had a good time. She doesn't like watching the races on tv, but really, really wants to go to a Moto GP Race. I can thank Randy DePuniet for that, as she thinks he's hot, fair enough, as I rather enjoy the brolly babes. She has let me spend waaaay more $$$ on my VFRC-750 that I should have, as I could have bought a new bike with all the $$$ I have dropped on her, but does my wife complain, nope, as she knows it keeps me quite and happy! She even refers to my bike as "the other woman", or "your mistress", again, fair enough! She also doesn't mind my Pan-European Track days, and has already asked where I'm going to go this coming year. I'll be honest though, I do keep her happy by subsidizing Pampered Chef, Party Lite, and Lia Sophia, so in the end, it all works out, I have a good wife!!!

I am not married and if I meet a lady I like and she does not like bikes, then it will probably be a one night stand and nothing else. I do not want to get stuck with a woman who is not into bikes - just my choice.
