Hi All, I've become VFR obsessed. My currrent ride is an 07 DL650 v-strom. I love the bike but my dream (bike) has always been to ride a VFR. I'm thinking an '06 or '07. My rides are limited to 4 or 5 hours in the countryside every couple weeks. Given the length of the riding season here in the great white north, I only do about 3,000 kms a year. My hope is that the VFR will provide nearly the same comfort as the Strom, but more confidence and satisfaction in its sporty handling. Before I get my wife on board with this, am I expecting too much? Thanks in advance, ---David
The Strom is more comfortable, but you can get accustomed to the VFR very quickly. I've done 700 to 850 mile days back-to-back and did not come out a cripple. Physically anyway.
My buddies ( older then me ) ride 6th gen bikes. I am the only one that complains of being uncomfortable on long rides ( 500 miles + ) and I am on a gen 3. Hope it works out for ya ! Welcome.
seats not the greatest on a stock bike but maybe you could find a great deal on a used one that someone added a sargent or corbin seat to. I ride a 5th gen and 5-6 hours saddle time is ok to me. I do have a sargent, though. I know there are some smoking deals on leftover 07 and 08s now from what other members have been saying. good luck (oh, and VFRRandy12335 (or whatever numbers) is from the great white north...you should check out his mileage numbers...)
