About to start wrenching on my VFR and thinking about HIDs. Read through the various HID articles and am still confused a bit.

Just to make sure I have this right, on a 5th gen VFR800:
    - The lo-beams are H4 bulbs
    - The hi-beams are H7s

From what I read, you can go one of several ways:
    1. Change 'em one for one - Change out each of the four bulbs to H4s and H7s respectively.
    2. Bi-xenons - Change out the H4s to bi-xenons which will flip up for hi-beam usage
    3. Bi-xenons + H7s - Change out the H4s to bi-xenons and the H7s, and somehow wire it all together to have super bright hi-beams with all four bulbs going.

Is this correct? If I want to do it the third way, how do I wire it so that all the lights are on at once?

And it seems that people have used 55w bulbs successfully in these different configurations?

As benny said, 5th gens only have two bulbs....two H4 bulbs. I have an HID kit in my 5th gen. You need dual filaments, so can be more expensive. It comes with two ballasts, and a controller, and lots of wiring. I LOVE the clean white light...not more piss yellow....

Oh, and I will move this to the mod forum for ya.

So does dual filament = bi-xenons?

And can I use 55w bulbs or just 35w?
