I just got my first bill from American Family on the VFR.

$992 / year for full coverage!!!

    $500 deductable

A $18000 Harley Davidson was close to HALF this premium.

    What are you guys paying?

Yea, I just logged into progressive's site and got a quote of $318!

Just emailed my Insurance Agent and told him he needs to double check his figures or I am jumping ship!

    Be very careful

Collision mean they only pay the other person for the dammaged. You will fix ur own bike at your cost:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
The price for an 07 full coverage is run between 600 to 1100 a year depend on your age, driving record and where you live. Shop around and review the policy carefully. Good luck:thumbsup:

The low amount is only because it is not full coverage
progressive normally does not add in the comp and collision.
they just add collision and medical for one year if you add comp (Full coverage)with average 250 or 500 deduct it would be about 900-1000 for the year.
The cool thing with Progessive is if i add new pipes or paint job or really anything you can go online to adjust the accessory amount in 500 and 1000 levels. and then pay the diff.

    ***** Scubalong is right*******

Also if you financed your Bike i hope you got the GAP insurance.

$900 annually through Dairy Land. Full coverage with $25,000 for uninsured motorist and $100,000 medical, plus $5,000 for accessories. That's with two mild speeding tickets.

The bike took $4,000 in hail damage during a freak storm this summer and I had a check for all of it, after taking a couple of pictures, on the spot. No adjustmnets to my rates either due to a naturaly occuring incident. Their idea, not mine.

I checked with Progressive since obtaining the policy, and I DO have Comp and Collision; $250 deductible on each. This is the second time I used them for insurance. The previous time was for a Harley Davidson, same thing, Comp and Collision at a great premium.

Sounds like some may need to check with other providers. Obviously, a 400+ pound piece of steal can mess stuff up, but to me, it is nuts to expect a consumer to pay 1/6 the value of their bike to insure it.

When I go the $992 premium from American Family, I assumed it was a typo. When I spoke to my agent a while later, he told me that AMFAM does not like insuring motorcycles that fall in the "sport" category.

That all depends on your age, driving record and where you live as well, if you live in the boonies of course it's gonna be cheap. I live in a crowded traffic and accident infested city we call Los Angeles. Trust me I shopped almost 2 dozen companies and they were all almost two to three times as much.

Hey Rex, Yeah I think the reasoning for the higher sport rates has more to do with a sportbikes speed and the high medical costs associated with a high speed accident. Adding to that are plenty of moron type sport riders whom make the statisics look bad for all of us. The propensity of a few sport riders to behave rather unsafely in any number of areas has unfortuneatly affected all of us.

Here is another. Keep in mind, this is an Interstate!

They dominated the highways in the St Louis area about a month ago, most of the time shutting down traffic completely.

Funny, this. I switched to American Family here in NY since they were $340 per year full coverage and Progressive wanted to increase my rate to $900+ from the $325 I paid the year before, and I had 3 bikes with them then. It always pays to shop and INHTA (It Never Hurts To Ask) for a better rate. Rexbaum, where are you located?

I pay $220 per year for 4 bikes. That is through Progressive and it is for liability only.
