ok I have read 20+ threads on shocks so what one 929, 954, F4i? I'm not paying ohlins $ for a rear shock at this time (kids in braces)
I am not sure on a sixth gen but I believe it is the same as the 4th and 5th. Here is a good thread. If you have time check out the link I posted in the middle of the thread. http://vfrworld.com/forums/modifications/9591-cbr929-shock-5th-gen-nice-cheap-upgrade.html Oh yeah cbr 929 shock.
I put a 2006 f4i shock on my 98 and so far so good. I sent the shock out to have a stiffer spring put on it. You have to shim the top of the shock mount to get a comparable height to the stock one but no big deal. I used a bunch of stainless washers. The back tire is 1/4 higher off the ground than with the stock shock but you can drop the front forks to make up the difference. I love having compression and rebound. This winter I am installing an 05 R1 front end on the bike. Good luck with the bike. Todd
I'm having a Penske made for my 5th gen. It did wonders for my last bike! And with Penske, there support is FANTASTIC!
Of course, and welcome! Start a new thread to introduce yourself. What bike? Location? New rider? Old rider? And of course... pictures of your bike(s)
if you go 929 route you need spring and have it revalved for you bike plus you need to make op a bracket or shim it to match lenth of stock shock. best bet is have stock shock resprung for your weight and revalved as well
I dont but reworking stock shock is prob the route I will go. I have called a few local places in my area. around 300 bucks seems to be average w/o spring
